  • Engineering a Sustainable Future at Winsport Day Lodge with AME Compass! This National Engineering Month, we’re proud to spotlight our work on the Winsport Day Lodge renovation and expansion project in Calgary. Targeting Zero Carbon Building Standard Design Certification and pioneering advanced air-to-water heat pump systems in Alberta, this project exemplifies innovation in sustainable building design. A key to its success? AME Compass, our interactive parametric energy modeling tool, which helped evaluate energy solutions, optimize efficiency, and achieve cost-effective, value-driven outcomes. By integrating AME Compass early, we collaborated with GGA-Architecture, EllisDon, and M3 Development Management Ltd to explore envelope efficiencies, HVAC systems, and heat recovery strategies — ensuring data-driven, impactful design decisions. At AME, we believe sustainable solutions start with smart decisions, and Winsport Day Lodge is proof of the future we can engineer together. • Say hello and get to know William Ennin, Mechanical Designer, based out of Edmonton, AB. William brings a passion for problem-solving and collaboration to his role at AME. From field services to design coordination, he thrives in an industry that blends technical complexity with hands-on teamwork. Q: Why this industry and what keeps you in it? A: The great site-to-office balance and coordination with external teams. I enjoy the field services, and commissioning, as much as I enjoy being in the office, designing and coordinating with my colleagues. Overall, as a consultant, I enjoy how deeply involved we are in each step of the process delivering high-quality design solutions. Q: What is something you are proud of about yourself? A: My team and I take pride in our attention to detail and quality during construction, continually pushing projects forward to completion. Our commitment to excellence is what sets us apart. Q: What does your team do and what has been your favourite project so far? A: Our team works on a variety of projects, but I’ve focused on renovations, tenant improvements, and air handling unit replacements. Right now, my coolest project is the @Keyano Penthouse AHUs and chillers replacement. It requires a significant amount of investigation into the equipment, piping, and areas served to create the best solution—it’s like solving a complex puzzle! William’s dedication to quality and innovation is a perfect example of how engineers open doors to better, more efficient solutions. #AMEGroup #BuildingLegacy #Engineering #NEM2025 #EngineersOpenDoors #MechanicalDesign #ProblemSolvers

  • Say hello and get to know Ben Sleivert, Mechanical Designer, based out of Victoria, BC. Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given? A: When asking a question, come with a (potential) solution! Even if it’s wrong, it’s good to think through a problem and get into the habit of finding solutions. Q: What is the coolest thing you’re working on right now or have worked on recently? A: A 10-story student housing project at VIU that uses a ground source loop with a heat pump for heating, cooling, and domestic hot water production for the entire building. The ground source loop is actually a series of old mine shafts that have been flooded with water, which is cool. Q: If you could be an expert at something, what would it be? A: People skills – our work is both technical and people oriented, but good people skills can often smooth any issues we face. #AMEGroup #BuildingLegacy #Engineering #NEM2025

  • Engineers Open Doors: The Future of Sustainable Urban Development This National Engineering Month, we celebrate how Engineers Open Doors—leading the way to innovation, sustainability, and community growth. The Sen̓áḵw Development, the largest Indigenous economic development project in Canadian history, exemplifies these principles. Targeting Canada’s largest net-zero operational carbon residential community, this visionary project integrates Squamish culture and values with advanced sustainability features, such as on-site district energy system that recovers heat from municipal wastewater. AME is proud to have been part of this transformative project since the master planning stage, contributing energy analysis and innovative on-demand hot water delivery systems. Together, we’re supporting Sen̓áḵw to reduce carbon emissions and build a thriving, connected community. Reflecting on last month’s event co-hosted with ZEBx and the Zero Emissions Innovation Centre, we’re inspired by the collaboration and engineering excellence that make projects like this possible. Sen̓áḵw is proof that engineering opens doors to a more sustainable and inclusive future. #AMEGroup #BuildingLegacy #Engineering #NEM2025 #EngineersOpenDoors #SustainableCities #UrbanInnovation #NetZero Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning, Reshape Infrastructure Strategies, Creative Energy Peak Construction Group Marie-France Venneri Jarrod Yip Marc Trudeau
