An estimated 70–80% of the world’s cocaine is smuggled across oceans, largely departing from South America and landing in the European Union. Maritime routes, and the ports that anchor them, have become key battlegrounds in the fight against illicit trafficking. #CustomsAndBorderNews: In a major international operation, the Ecuadorian National Police (Policía Nacional del Ecuador), alongside Germany’s LKA Baden-Württemberg, German Customs (ZFA Stuttgart), the Spanish Guardia Civil, and Europol, dismantled a criminal network trafficking wholesale cocaine to the EU via major ports. #CustomsAndBorderNews: French authorities seized 10 tonnes of cocaine at the port of Dunkirk a few weeks ago, marking the largest-ever drug haul in metropolitan France.  The shipment, concealed in containers and originating from South America, has an estimated market value of about €320 million. This seizure accounts for nearly a fifth of all cocaine confiscated in France last year, highlighting the nation's escalating efforts against drug trafficking.
