Exciting news for the Maldon community - we've announced the location of the new community battery. It'll be installed on Adair Street, opposite the Maldon Hospital and will help to store excess solar energy, enhance power reliability, and reduce carbon emissions. The project is jointly funded by Powercor and the Australian Government’s Community Batteries for Household Solar program. About us
CitiPower and Powercor own and operate electricity distribution networks servicing 1.2 million customers while also enabling the renewable generation essential to transition to a clean energy future. Our networks play an important role in the energy supply chain by providing reliable, safe and affordable electricity supplies. This involves a lot of innovation in managing the increasingly complex and sophisticated system behind it. Our electricity networks are a crucial gateway to a clean energy future. Connections with renewable energy generators bring clean energy to industrial, commercial and residential customers. As more customers choose solar, batteries, electric vehicles or smart appliances, our networks are enabling new ways to generate, store, share and use power. Overlay this with the fact that our networks traverse some of Victoria’s highest bushfire risk areas and regions at risk from the impacts of climate change. We support customer choice while also keeping communities safe and maintaining system security and network stability. Our team of professionals in network strategy and planning, asset management, major projects, field operations, and IT are at the forefront of addressing these challenges. Join us today. Be a part of an industry leader that shapes the future for energy.

Did you know that by 2031, 22% of cars on the road will be EVs! 🚗⚡ So we’re busy behind the scenes ensuring our network supports this growing demand. One challenge we’re tackling is 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, which is when an EV charger reduces or stops charging due to voltage drops. This can happen due to: - Limits set by EV manufacturers - Low voltage network capacity - ome wiring not designed for EV chargers 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠: we're not waiting for this issue to grow - our teams have been proactive in looking for ways to solve issues and we’ve developed new tools to pinpoint impacted customers. We’ve already identified that 5% of EV owners experience this issue! With our new tools and analysis we’ve developed more efficient proactive network upgrades to avoid more costly reactive upgrades. We’ve also improved our complaints processes to better direct EV related complaints to the right place and help us our keep customers informed.

One of the benefits of working with us means that you can take part in group activities with registered charities or utilise one day off a year as Community Day leave as one group recently did with RSPCA Victoria.
Over the past few weeks, we've welcomed Nokia, CitiPower and Powercor and TPG Telecom at our Burwood shelter for their Corporate Support Days! The teams got a behind-the-scenes look at RSPCA Victoria - cuddling and playing with puppies waiting for their forever homes, diving into a guinea pig training session in our Barn, and helping out with some much-appreciated jobs around the shelter. A special shout-out to TPG Telecom, who set a new record by cleaning 91 carry cages! 🤩🏆 To give your employees a unique and fun-filled team building day (with adorable animals!), get in touch at csd@rspcavic.org.au or enquire online at https://bit.ly/4kQ5fQl

We are excited to launch new competitions in our energy flexibility marketplace. Traditionally, when parts of the network reach capacity, the only option was to undertake ‘poles and wires’ upgrades. But now, we are inviting third parties to propose innovative ways to achieve similar results using different technologies at a lower cost. That could be through batteries, virtual power plants, demand management or other innovative approaches. We worked with Piclo to bring our marketplace to life in 2024. Now, in its second year, we look forward to seeing how businesses, community groups, government bodies and other bidders propose to make electricity more reliable and affordable for our customers. Head to our website to learn more and register for the webinar. https://lnkd.in/gwgaJkEY

Today is National Close the Gap Day – a day of action to support health and wellbeing equality for First Peoples. The gap in health, life expectancy and socioeconomic wellbeing between First Peoples and non-Indigenous Australians remains significant and today is a reminder of the work still to be done. At CitiPower and Powercor, we’re committed to Closing the Gap through our Reconciliation Action Plan and DEI Strategy. That means creating meaningful opportunities for First Peoples, businesses and organisations - through procurement, employment and skills development programs designed to drive lasting economic and social outcomes. To mark National Close the Gap Day we worked with Clontarf Foundation to host a group of young First Peoples from Ballarat and Warrnambool to spark engagement and interest in our First Peoples Pre-Apprenticeship Program. The students had the chance to: 💡 Hear from First Peoples within our business 💡 Test their skills putting on bolts with G&B gloves and sleeves 💡 Experience an elevated work platform ride - a definite highlight for the group! #NationalCloseTheGapDay #ClosingTheGap #Reconciliation #Clontarf #CTG
