About us

RSPCA Victoria is an independent, non-government, community based animal welfare charity whose vision is ‘ending cruelty to all animals’. We are Victoria’s best-known and most respected animal welfare organisation. Our purpose is to work with the community to achieve outstanding animal welfare through education, advocacy, animal care and protection. RSPCA Victoria recognises and rewards its employees and volunteers for role modelling and living its values on a daily basis. We measure our employee and volunteer engagement each year and continually look for ways to make our organisation a fantastic place to work. We aim to foster a positive work environment that supports professional working relationships, equal employment opportunities and is free from discrimination of any type. We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of all our employees, volunteers and visitors, including children, and to ensuring that our workplace provides a supportive environment in which all individuals can realise their full potential.

  • We'd like to say a huge thank you to Cranbourne West Secondary College’s Year 9 carpentry students for building and donating dog kennels to help pets in need! With winter on the way, providing dogs with a warm, dry shelter to protect them from the elements is an important part of their care, and these shelters are making a big difference for families doing it tough across South East Victoria. Thanks to the 'Everything Building' class for showcasing their skills and giving back to the local community 💖🐾 Learn more about helping animals in need 👉 rspcavic.org/get-involved

  • RSPCA Victoria's Inspectors do one of the toughest jobs every single day. Our small Inspectorate team are on the frontline investigating severely neglected, injured or abused animals across the state. This often involves attending properties riddled with animal faeces and urine, pests, vermin, and mountains of rubbish. Sadly, it’s not just the animals being abused. Our Inspectors face daily verbal and physical abuse in the line of duty. This is unacceptable. Please help us keep helping the state’s most vulnerable animals by treating our Inspectors with respect. • Happy National Pet Day 🐶🐱🐰   Did you know that around 69% of Australian households have at least one pet, making us one of the most ‘pet-mad’ countries in the world? It’s no surprise, considering the many benefits pets bring, from boosting happiness to reducing stress and improving mental wellbeing!   🤔 So why leave those paw-sitive benefits at home when we can bring them to your office!   With an RSPCA Animal Office Visit, your team will learn about how our work contributes to a world free from cruelty to animals, take part in team-building activities that help the animals in our care, and even meet some of our adorable furry friends!   Does this sound like the team activity your office has been barking for? Get in touch today 👉 https://lnkd.in/gM2zUatf

  • Our popular School Holiday Program starts today and we can't wait to welcome participants to our Burwood centre! Mikey the goat has been practising his fantastic mat & target training skills, ready to teach children about animal welfare while they hear his rescue story. Good boy, Mikey! Our current program is completely sold out, but if your child wants to experience a behind the scenes look at an animal shelter, meet our rescue animals, and learn from our qualified educators, sign up to our waitlist for next holiday's sessions. Don't miss out! Sign up here: https://lnkd.in/ge5SB8j6

  • Last Sunday, members of our Community Outreach team visited the Frankston Pets In The Park clinic to meet with and support members of the local community. Pets In The Park provides free veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness, and our team are hoping to attend more monthly clinics to provide additional veterinary and social work assistance. We had a great day meeting the Pets In The Park team, chatting with community members and meeting their furry friends 💖 We look forward to working more closely with the local community in the future, and supporting the south-eastern suburbs through our Peninsula Pet Net animal welfare program: rspcavic.org/petnet

𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁; 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄? Four weeks ago the government was compelled to release the The Independent Review of Victoria’s Wildlife Act 1975 and its response to the report. The Act is 50 years old and this review was meant to be the first step in improving legislation that protects our native animals. Today we have learned that the Government will not be releasing this information under claims of executive privilege. It begs the question – what is in the report that they don’t want us to see?!

  • Over the past few weeks, we've welcomed NokiaCitiPower and Powercor and TPG Telecom at our Burwood shelter for their Corporate Support Days! The teams got a behind-the-scenes look at RSPCA Victoria - cuddling and playing with puppies waiting for their forever homes, diving into a guinea pig training session in our Barn, and helping out with some much-appreciated jobs around the shelter. A special shout-out to TPG Telecom, who set a new record by cleaning 91 carry cages! 🤩🏆 To give your employees a unique and fun-filled team building day (with adorable animals!), get in touch at csd@rspcavic.org.au or enquire online at https://bit.ly/4kQ5fQl
