CHANNEL ASSIGNMENT FOR THROUGHPUT OPTIMIZATION IN ULTICHANNEL
MULTIRADIO WIRELESS MESH NETWORKS USING NETWORK CODING

ABSTRACT:

Compared to single-hop networks such as WiFi, multihop infrastructure wireless mesh networks
(WMNs) can potentially embrace the broadcast benefits of a wireless medium in a more flexible
manner. Rather than being point-to-point, links in the WMNs may originate from a single node
and reach more than one other node. Nodes located farther than a one-hop distance and
overhearing such transmissions may opportunistically help relay packets for previous hops.

This phenomenon is called opportunistic overhearing/ listening. With multiple radios, a node can
also improve its capacity by transmitting over multiple radios simultaneously using orthogonal
channels. Capitalizing on these potential advantages requires effective routing and efficient
mapping of channels to radios (channel assignment (CA)). While efficient channel assignment
can greatly reduce interference from nearby transmitters, effective routing can potentially relieve
congestion on paths to the infrastructure.

Routing, however, requires that only packets pertaining to a particular connection be routed on a
predetermined route. Random network coding (RNC) breaks this constraint by allowing nodes to
randomly mix packets overheard so far before forwarding. A relay node thus only needs to know
how many packets, and not which packets, it should send. We mathematically formulate the joint
problem of random network coding, channel assignment, and broadcast link scheduling, taking
into account opportunistic overhearing, the interference constraints, the coding constraints, the

number of orthogonal channels, the number of radios per node, and fairness among unicast
connections.

We develop a suboptimal, auction-based solution for overall network throughput optimization.
Performance evaluation results show that our algorithm can effectively exploit multiple radios
and channels and can cope with fairness issues arising from auctions. Our algorithm also shows
promising gains over traditional routing solutions in which various channel assignment strategies
are used.

Interference-Aware Channel Assignment for Maximizing Throughput in WMNpijans

Wireless Mesh network (WMN) is dynamically self-organizing and self-configured, with the nodes in the network automatically establishing an ad-hoc network and maintaining the mesh connectivity. The ability to use multiple-radios and multiple channels can be cashed to increase aggregate throughput of wireless mesh network. Thus the efficient use of available interfaces and channels without interference becomes the key factor. In this paper we propose interference aware clustered based channel assignment schemes which minimizes the interference and increases throughput. In our proposed scheme we have given priority to minimize interference from nearby mesh nodes in interference range than maximizing channel diversity. We simulated our proposed work using NS-3 and results show that our scheme improves network performance than BFSCA and Distributed Greedy CA.

When packets are sending in multi-hop mobile unintended networks numerous problems occur like flooding, rebroadcast, broadcast latency, power conservation and collision. If multiple transmission of packets simultaneously in MANETs that using the slot assignments approach, when additional channels are transmitting at the same time as the first slot allocations, interference may occur at the nodes. Because of the multi-hops data transfer, the network performance is hampered by the constrained bandwidth and therefore the self-initiated topological alterations. Therefore, a broadcast algorithm is important within the mobile ad hoc network for collision control and reliable communication. This paper proposes two new broadcasting protocols: modify SRBS and DSB algorithms. The planned algorithms outperform context of efficiency, reliability, traffic overload and reachability in highly mobile networks is an enhanced performance within the different environments. Evaluation of simulation results with other well-known exiting protocols as DFCN and PEGSP algorithms shows that the proposed protocol performance is best within the wireless network and channel bandwidths are well utilized within the network.

BETTER SCALABLE ROUTING PROTOCOL FOR HYBRID WIRELESS MESH NETWORKcscpconf

There are many routing approaches have been borrowed from mobile ad hoc network to achieve routing solutions in wireless mesh network. WMN was developed for reliable data communication and load balancing. AODV provides loop-free routes even while repairing broken links. This paper have been proposed an improved hierarchical AODV routing protocol (IH-AODV), which exhibits better scalability and performance in the network. This IH-AODV protocol has been proposed for improvement in the scaling potential of AODV. MAODV allows each node in the network to send out multicast data packets, used for multicast traffic. The wireless mesh network architecture provides reduction in installation cost, large scale deployment, reliability and self management. It is mainly focused on implementing military or specialized civilian applications. Two protocols MAODV and IH-AODV were simulated using NS2 package. Simulation results will demonstrate that, IH-AODV scales well for large network and other metrics are also better than or comparable to MAODV in hybrid WMNs.

EFFICIENT MULTI-PATH PROTOCOL FOR WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKSijwmn

Wireless sensor networks are useful for streaming multimedia in infrastructure-free and hazardous environments. However, these networks are quite different from their wired counterpart and are composed of nodes with constrained bandwidth and energy. Multiple-path transmission is one of the methods for ensuring QoS routing in both wired and wireless environment. Directed diffusion, a well known wireless sensor network protocol, only routes packets through a single path, which barely meets the throughput requirement of multimedia data. Instead, we propose a multipath algorithm based on directed diffusion that reinforces multiple routes with high link quality and low latency. This algorithm retains the merits of the original directed diffusion algorithms, including its energy efficiency and scalability. A hybrid metric of link quality and latency is used as the criterion for path selection. In order to select disjoint paths, we propose a scheme for reinforced nodes to respond negatively to multiple reinforcement messages. We use the NS-2 simulation tool with video trace generated by Multiple Description Coding (MDC) to evaluate the performance. The results show that our algorithm gives better throughput and delay performance, i.e higher video quality, than standard directed diffusion that transmits over a single path, with low overheads and energy consumption.
