“Jillian and I were both diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and benefited greatly from being able to receive treatment at Dana-Farber. We met through Dana-Farber’s Young Adult Program and wanted to give back. Dana-Farber is much more than a cancer center, it’s an institution of hope that is changing the way cancers like ours are being treated.” “The Young Adult Program (YAP) is such a unique feature at Dana-Farber that we are very fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of. It focuses solely on patients ages 18 through early forties, offering a variety of ways for us to meet, organize, and get the survivorship support we need. All the money we raise through the Jimmy Fund Walk benefits YAP and young adult patients at Dana-Farber.” – Samantha and Jillian, Co-Captains of the Young Adult Program team in the Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai Motor America Young adults with cancer face different challenges than patients diagnosed earlier or later in life, including unique circumstances related to lifestyle, work, school, family, and emotional development. Dana-Farber’s Young Adult Program, part of Adult Psychosocial Care, offers support and connection. #YoungAdultCancerAwarenessWeek

In April, we recognize everyone who has been affected by esophageal cancer, testicular cancer, and head and neck cancer. Did you know? - Esophageal cancer is more common among men than women. The lifetime risk of esophageal cancer in the United States is about 1 in 127 in men and about 1 in 434 in women. - The average age of males when first diagnosed with testicular cancer is about 33. Testicular cancer usually can be treated successfully. - Head and neck cancers can have many different names depending on where the cancer starts. These include laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancer, oral cavity and oropharyngeal cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer, nasal cavity and paranasal sinus cancer and salivary gland cancer. To learn more about signs, symptoms, and treatment, follow Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. #EsophagealCancer #TesticularCancer #HeadAndNeckCancer
