Starting Together, Finishing Together Andrew Athanasian met his friend Grace Taylor on their first day of college. As the two approach graduation, Andrew will run the Boston Marathon® with the Mass General Marathon Team to raise funds for the programs at Mass General Cancer Center that helped Grace get through treatment for thyroid cancer. “Sometimes in life, there’s an opportunity to do good, and this is so clearly one of those times” Andrew says. “I can look back on this experience when I’m older and know that I ran the Boston Marathon to help Grace’s experience become something that brings joy to others. When José Moreno was diagnosed with oral cavity cancer, his doctor didn't just recommend treatment. He recommended a journey to Mass General Brigham, 1,550 miles away from José's home in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. José endured a 6-hour surgery, which removed the cancer and then reconstructed the area, and then went on to radiation and chemotherapy. José has now been cancer-free for a year and describes his experience "My care at Mass General Brigham has been of the highest quality," José said.
