Systems thinking for a sustainable future. Sustainability education + research center @ MIT Sloan.
About us
Our team is working hard to be a leading voice in sustainable business and policy, with a mission to provide the best education, apply academic rigor to real world problems, and empower leaders everywhere to take action so humans and nature can thrive. Housed at the MIT Sloan School of Management – birthplace of systems thinking, system dynamics, and modeling of complex human + environment interactions – we are deeply committed to advancing systems change for an equitable and sustainable world. We do this through the joint efforts of MIT students, faculty, alumni, researchers, and collaborators in business, government, NGOs, and hybrid organizations. 🌿 "Hope isn’t naïve optimism—the belief that some technological breakthrough will save us. It's the belief that what we do matters. That by working together, we can create a better world," - Professor John Sterman.

Big shoutout to Bryan Dariel Belliard- leading in the entrepreneurship space and making moves as Co-Managing Director of this year’s MIT Sustainability Summit!
For serial entrepreneur Bryan Dariel Belliard, MBA '26, MIT's Independent Activities Period was the perfect mix of exploration, reflection, and momentum. As part of the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship’s Fuse incubator, Bryan worked on his latest venture, Kindred, which aims to tackle rental scams and improve the roommate verification process. “My co-founder and I spent the month refining the user journey and exploring different verification methods to ensure a seamless and secure experience for users,” he says. “It’s been incredible to build something that directly addresses a major gap in the housing market, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.” The experience emphasizes Bryan’s reason for choosing MIT, for its expertise in areas like entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability. Before joining MIT Sloan, Bryan built a diverse career at the intersection of tech, media, and entrepreneurship. He worked at Amazon Prime Video, founded three start-ups, including his latest venture, Tieralia (focused on sustainable consumer goods like biodegradable cleaning products), and is part of the Amazon Black Business Accelerator. Bryan also incubated a startup in the mobile hotels for events space through MITdesignX. “The action-learning approach, combined with MIT Sloan’s robust startup ecosystem, provides the ideal environment for me to continue building and refining ventures.” Outside of the IAP, which takes place in January of each year, Bryan spent time traveling in-between the fall and spring semesters, including a hiking trip through the Inca Trail with some fellow Sloanies!
