Congratulations to the MIT AgeLab team for helping to make Boston a leader in longevity hubs (and getting published in Boston Magazine)! 🎉 MIT CTL's AgeLab has long been poised as a leader amongst academic institutions working to develop technologies that improve the quality of life for older people and those who care for them. 🤲 ' “MIT is about envisioning and inventing the future. I want the AgeLab to write a new narrative of a 100-year life,” Dr. Joe Coughlin [founder and director of the MIT AgeLab] says, adding that it’s about “setting the agenda for what 100 good years could be.” ' Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/epXjVthm #SupplyChain #SupplyChainManagement #SupplyChainInnovation #ResearchCenter #Logistics #Aging #Longevity #LongevityHubs #Age Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Earning a professional designation can boost a financial advisor’s income and AUM, new research from the Investments & Wealth Institute shows. Also in today’s newsletter: UBS is fighting the second-largest FINRA arbitration award ever, claiming the panel bypassed legal limits on damages and failed to justify the huge award. Plus: Just 40% of clients are satisfied with the financial advice they receive, a new study from the TIAA Institute and the MIT AgeLab found — and factors like clients’ age, gender and race can significantly influence their satisfaction levels. And: How to protect against ever-smarter AI-enabled scams and fraudsters. #wealthmanagement #professionaldevelopment #financialadvisors #regulation #clientmanagement #cybersecurity

Looking back on another amazing MIT AgeLab PLAN Forum (#agelab25). Your ringleader (Dr. Joe Coughlin), and arguably this years' show-stealer, Spot, from Boston Dynamics, both get you thinking about what living well in the future looks like (and costs).

In Search of Longevity Hubs: Part 3 Longevity Hubs: Regional Innovation for Global Aging a collection of 20 chapters of essays edited by Dr. Joe Coughlin & Luke Yoquinto - I turn now to the books discussion on Caregiving, for this too is connected with health & housing in particular when we know that home care has become a central part of the longevity story, allowing people to live longer and healthier where possible in their preferred place. Caregiving in Longevity Hubs features 5 contributions. In the brief section written by Nancy LeaMond Chief Advocacy & Engagement Officer at AARP this link between health, home and care is directly pointed: “…people’s homes have become health care’s new frontier, and family caregivers are increasingly handling tasks once performed only by nurses and other trained professionals.” In the closing segment Lisa D'Ambrosio Research Scientist at MIT AgeLab talks about the reliability of “high touch” and “low touch” technology solutions introduced in the market over the last decade. Her highlight observation that resonates for me, speaks to an innovation gap & information gap facing a “caregiving-intensive society”, calling for an innovative future of care where “developers, policymakers, and researchers must first understand the requirements of those who provide and receive it.” Read my full post here https://lnkd.in/gtbVVd56 where I also flag from Alberta the education program from Caregivercare.ca designed to improve the well-being and inclusion of family caregivers. As the organization recognizes, as also described in Longevity Hubs, we are talking about supporting what is often described as a “hidden workforce of caregivers”.
