🧠 Participants learned how to read a Vernier scale, use a brain atlas and perform stereotaxic surgery during our recent hands-on workshop at The Jackson Laboratory. They successfully acquired skills to collect cerebrospinal fluid and perform brain injections, cannulations and bilateral cannulations! Special thanks to Stoelting Co. for sponsoring our courses and providing all of the equipment for our stereotaxic workshops! 👏 ➡️ If you need training for #stereotaxic surgical techniques in the laboratory mouse this year, there are a few spots remaining for our workshop September 3 – 5, 2025. To empower the next generation of cancer researchers, training opportunities need to be made accessible. The Jackson Laboratory's free Virtual Cancer Genomics Program for Undergraduates is doing just that. Led by Erica Gerace, Ph.D., and Sarah Wojiski, Ph.D., the virtual course provides tiered levels of engagement and flexibility through a combination of live sessions with biomedical researchers and clinical experts, as well as interactive asynchronous activities designed to enhance research inquiry skills and offer real-world insights into the impact of genomics on cancer diagnosis and treatment. Over the past four years, more than 380 students from 164 unique colleges and universities across the U.S. have been introduced to the field of #CancerGenomics and careers in #Biomedicine. This unique approach demonstrates how #VirtualLearning can break down barriers and create new opportunities for students to succeed in #STEM. 🔗 Read more about the outcomes in this new publication: https://lnkd.in/ePsmHcwN

JAX Education reposted this
I was blown away by the response to our poster at #ACMGMtg2025! People loved the title, but who is “the choir”? Genetics specialists. We know the power of genomics in medicine, but too often, we’re just talking to each other. It’s time to break out of our silos. What strategies have you found effective in building relationships between genetics and non-genetics providers? Let me know in the comments! Missed the poster?
