Since 2015, LandMark has served as a vital tool for making visible the lands and territories that Indigenous and local communities own or claim, helping assert rights, defend territories, and counter narratives that these lands are "vacant" or "idle." tIn 2024, LandMark launched a major update to offer new features and expanded coverage of Indigenous Peoples’ and local communities’ lands data in a continuing effort to increase recognition of these lands amid a sea of growing threats.
🌐 What we'll learn 🌐 :
During the session, you'll meet collaborators from LandMark’s global consortium — a partnership of Indigenous- and community-led organisations and land rights allies — and learn more about how this platform is being used around the world to protect community land rights.
You'll hear from:
🗣️ Katie Reytar from World Resources Institute
🗣️ Daniel Kobei from Ogiek Peoples' Development Program (OPDP)
