“This is no time for retreat or hesitation. It is a moment for courage and collaboration.” Today, we stand at a climate crossroads with the stakes higher than ever. Despite meaningful progress, climate impacts are only intensifying, and emerging leadership gaps reinforce a vital truth: climate progress cannot rely solely on the actions of any one country or on government action alone. The urgency of the moment is now—the next five years are the most critical in this decisive decade for #ClimateAction. In her annual letter, Helen Mountford (Helen M.) reflects on the challenges and opportunities ahead, including how philanthropy must step up to bridge divides and catalyze trust, ambition, and systemic change. 👉 Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gzhsm8Gr

Why should countries include ambitious action on cooling in their NDCs 3.0? As of March 31, only 19 countries have submitted their updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), despite the February 2025 deadline (https://lnkd.in/gdN3TDu4). While the majority of the submitted NDCs 3.0 have included commitments that will impact cooling in some capacity — such as measures on hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) or appliance efficiency — only a few explicitly recognize cooling as a sector in need of urgent action. Yet, sustainable cooling is a powerful climate solution that can slash emissions and strengthen resilience to rising temperatures. By prioritizing it in their NDCs, countries can unlock climate, health, and economic benefits, helping communities stay cool without warming the planet. So, how can countries integrate cooling into their NDCs 3.0? We break it down in our latest blog, written with Cool Coalition ➡️ https://lnkd.in/e4-AukNN #SustainableCooling #CleanCooling #PassiveCooling #EnergyEfficiency #HFCPhasedown #CoolingForAll #ClimateMitigation #EmissionsReductions #ParisAgreement #KigaliAmendment #ClimateAdaptation #ClimateResilience #GlobalGoals #SDGs #NDCs #GlobalCoolingPledge

"Philanthropy aims to play a vital role in solving the climate crisis. While global giving is up, only 20 percent of climate philanthropy has been directed to countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America over the past five years. Today, emerging economies, including Brazil, India, Indonesia, and Nigeria, are making critical choices determining their energy futures." - Monica Araya, Distinguished Fellow at ClimateWorks Foundation, and Joseph Ryan from Crux Alliance offer insights in Alliance magazine to drive support for #ClimatePhilanthropy in emerging economies. 🌊 Green fuels and sustainable finance took center stage at #SingaporeMaritimeWeek. Our Senior Program Director, Jason Anderson, emphasized the urgency of early investments in net-zero fuels: “What we need now is fairly early and sizeable investments in net-zero fuels to be able to have them available when you need them later on, rather than focusing on just being able to comply through, for example, LNG and unsustainable biofuels." With the IMO's #MEPC83 just around the corner, the industry has a critical opportunity to drive meaningful progress on #maritime #decarbonization. ➡️ Read more: https://lnkd.in/gEetC3Bc
