Government digital service teams (DSTs) play a vital role in modernizing public services, improving accessibility, and fostering trust in government. As these teams have expanded across federal, state, and local levels, understanding how they communicate their impact is essential. Drawing from our Government Digital Service Team Tracker, our new initiative examines how DSTs structure their impact reporting, what information they share, and which emerging practices offer promising models for other governments to replicate. The Digital Service Impact Report Tracker currently spans 15 reports from DSTs at federal, state, and local governments. Explore the tracker to learn: 🤔 What DSTs publish impact reports? ⚙️ What common features appear across these reports? 🗺️ How do impact reports differ across city, county, state, and federal levels? 📊 What impact reporting trends and promising practices can digital service teams adopt to strengthen their communication about their impact? Join the Digital Service Network on Wednesday, May 14th 3-4:30pm EST for a virtual Moth-style story slam for former federal employees! Some of the best, most compelling stories I've ever heard - or told - come from the amazing people who work in government and committed to making things better for the public. Storytelling is even more important than ever to help shed light on the essential role public servants play in so many programs that improve lives. And as mass dismissals are bringing an abrupt end to the careers of hundreds of so many dedicated public servants, telling your stories about the job you loved may also help process this rapid and unsettling change. . If you are a former federal employee who worked in a digital delivery role and were dismissed, placed on administrative leave, or resigned since January 2025, please join our story slam: Behind the curtain: The humans of the federal government’s critical digital infrastructure.
