Navigate to a specific worksheet?

The question of how to navigate to a specific sheet is a very common one among Excel users. For example, if we have 10 to 15 (or more) sheets in our Excel workbook, it may be difficult to navigate or determine whether a particular sheet is present.

Here are some solutions: -

1. Keyboard Shortcut:

Some of you are already aware of shortcut keys for navigating between Excel sheets.

  • Ctrl + Page Up - Go to the previous sheet
  • Ctrl + Page Down - Go to the next sheet

You can navigate using these shortcut keys, but there is one limitation: you cannot see a specific sheet at a glance. To overcome this limitation use "Dialog Box" feature.

2. Dialog Box (Pop-up):

This Pop-up dialog box is awesome and is difficult to find unless someone tells you about it. It is the best way to navigate or determine whether a specific sheet exists or not.

Simply right-click either the "Previous Sheet" or "Next Sheet" navigation button (red mark area in Fig 1.1) to open the "Activate" dialog box. And now you have a list of all the sheets in your workbook (shown in Fig 1.2); you can select a required sheet and click OK, or double-click on the required sheet.
