Why Prop P? The last bond issue for the Wentzville Fire Protection District was in 2014. Since then, the population of Wentzville alone has grown by 46%, and emergency calls have increased by 52%. Wentzville firefighter/paramedics are often first on scene for medical calls, providing advanced life support until an ambulance arrives. Our trucks and gear need updates in order to keep up. Fire & EMS Personnel are you prepared to properly treat Smoke Inhalation Patients? Some data for you to consider. From: https://lnkd.in/esgGQBTB There were 1669 fire victims who were rescued from a structure fire and were in cardiac arrest where CPR was performed. 224 were administered the Cyanokit over an approximately 15-year period. Of the 224, 83, or 37% survived. This data indicates, 1. Not enough victims, including firefighters, are receiving the Cyanokit. 2. Of those administered the Cyanokit, 37% is a high resuscitation rate. More Fire Departments and EMS agencies should emphasize having the Cyanokit available for victims of possible smoke Inhalation.

Wayne County EMS and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, NC have partnered to reduce cardiac arrest response times with County-funded AEDs in 20 patrol vehicles. This investment, combined with deputy training in AED use, CPR, and Stop the Bleed techniques, ensures faster lifesaving care when every second counts. When a 911 call comes in, dispatchers can now identify if a deputy is nearby and send them to provide aid before EMS arrives. “This partnership is another great example of the Wayne County public safety community’s dedication towards protecting its citizens and those who visit our county,” said EMS Director Dave Cuddeback. As you are aware, NASHiCS wrote to the Fire Minister on 16th September 2024, raising matters of concern in relation to the enforcement and inspection regime currently undertaken within the care sector. Here is their response, which we promised to share with you and which we will respond to in due course. Do you think a fire is something that could never happen in your home or place of business? Think again. In the U.S., a fire department responds to a fire every 21 seconds, and a home fire-related death occurs every 3 hours and 14 minutes. In 2022 alone, 1,504,500 fires led to 3,790 civilian deaths and 13,250 injuries, while 96 firefighters tragically lost their lives on duty. 🚒 These statistics highlight the urgent need for fire safety and prevention. In response to concerns about the economic feasibility of its proposed emergency response rule, OSHA is considering the exclusion of volunteer emergency response organizations. This potential revision follows feedback from over 4,100 comments, including from volunteer responders and fire chiefs, on how the new standard might impact them. The proposed rule would expand protections beyond firefighting to include emergency medical services, search and rescue, and update equipment specifications and safety practices. Too many firefighters are impacted by occupational #cancer every year, even though they do everything - they wear their supplied gear and follow strict health and safety protocols. The OPFFA commends the Ontario government for its #Fire Protection Grant initiative, which will allow local departments to purchase specialized washing and drying equipment to properly decontaminate their bunker gear. This is a timely and significant announcement to share with #firefighters and their families. https://lnkd.in/dWDUzpsj Thank you Doug Ford Michael S. Coming home from holiday, waiting for the ferry, is the inspiration for today's #TrainerTuesday ⛴️ Most of us rarely, if ever, call 999. It's for emergencies only. But what happens when we dial 999? Who answers? ☎️ The operator answers, and asks "Which emergency service do you require?" What's the choice? We easily can name: Police Fire Ambulance Did you know it's also the emergency number to get through to the coastguard 🌊 as well as mountain rescue. ⛰️ My friends and family seem to think I'm one of the emergency services. I get calls with all sorts of questions! But my number is: 📞 07704 572453 And I prefer training to emergencies 😃 #FirstAidTraining #FirstAidatWork #Emergency
