Team Trigon Fire Safety enjoys very much meeting students and researchers. In the last week our staff was invited to meet with students, researchers and lecturers from a number of different universities including Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Imperial College London The University of Edinburgh Kingston University and Kingston School of Art. We engaged with different disciplines and departments: fire safety, structural engineering, building physics, architecture etc. Teaching. Learning. Exploring. Exchanging. Rethinking. Reflecting. …. There are so many things to consider when opening a new school. Do you open with one grade level at a time? How do you balance team and culture building with teacher preparation at the start of the school year? How do you support students that are transitioning schools mid-cycle? What else do we need to think about? These ideas are only magnified as Alpine School District and the communities it serves continue to grow and potentially splits into multiple school districts in the coming years.

Pittsburgh: The City of Bridges Affectionately known as the “City of Bridges,” Pittsburgh boasts 446 bridges. Long before the majestic bridges soared above the Three Rivers, Pittsburgh was a rugged terrain of deep valleys, creeks, and rivers, isolating many of the city’s residents. When the first European settlers arrived in the 1700s, they had to cross streams and climb steep hillsides just to travel around the region. To overcome these challenges, the settlers built wooden bridges to connect newly constructed roadways and span the rivers and valleys. We’re celebrating the world’s FIRST Core Living Building Certified project at Muhlenberg College and we’re really excited about it! International Living Future Institute created the Core Living Building Certification using 10 non-negotiables from the Living Building Challenge as the baseline to make our communities good for everyone. We’re really proud of the work of the entire team on this project, which met certification requirements after demonstrating 12 months of energy and water use that were above requirements.   We think Core Living Building certification is a game-changer for everyone who owns, designs, or constructs building projects.
