First phase of £8.6m historic Swindon leisure centre restoration expected to be complete by end of year - facility closed two years ago 🏗📅 The first phase of multimillion-pound restoration work to a grade II*-listed Swindon leisure centre is expected to be complete by the end of the year. Beard is heading up construction. Health Hydro closed two years ago and Swindon Borough Council said "significant progress" is being made to bring it back to its former glory. The council acknowledged the restoration project is "taking longer than originally anticipated", but that there is "light at the end of the tunnel". The important first phase of restoration is due to be completed by the end of the year. In early 2026, it is expected the pool will reopen to the public after a period of fit-out by leisure operators GLL.
