The Andy Thomas Space Foundation’s Post

The 17th Australian Space Forum is over, and this first of our new two-day format Australian Space Forums has been an amazing success. Highlights included: 🌟Australia’s Minister for Science and Industry, the Hon Ed Husic MP, presenting at our opening session, where he announced the new Technology Safeguards Agreement has just signed into law, bringing many new opportunities to the Australian Space sector. 🌟Presentations by Space Ministers from South Australia and New Zealand and the heads of both the Australian and New Zealand Space Agencies. 🌟Attendance by high level delegations from India, New Zealand, Korea and the US, with multiple announcements of collaboration opportunities and many MOUs signed over the 2 day program. 🌟Australia’s first female astronaut, Katherine Bennell-Pegg spoke at the event and generously gave her time to talk to the space industry specialists of tomorrow - the students participating in the Space Passport Program. 🌟Hundreds of kids participating in the Australian Space Forum exhibition area and the South Australian Kids in Space finals. 🌟A comprehensive briefing on the latest McKinsey World Economic Forum Report for Space, with a forecast that the global space sector is expected to grow from a size of US$630 billion in 2023 to US$1.8 trillion by 2035. 🌟Briefings and insights into some of the big commercial space projects being undertaken by Axiom Space, The Exploration Company and RocketLab which are opening commercial access to LEO and exportation to the Moon. 🌟Our new format included 12 focused sessions across three streams, with speakers and panel discussions addressing topics ranging from Australia’s achievement in space to human space flight, sovereign launch, and what space means to Australia’s national security for the next 10 years. Another iconic year for Australia’s iconic space industry conference. Our thanks again to our speakers, guests, sponsors, exhibitors and everyone who joined us over a busy two days. We hope you are as inspired as we are! #17AustralianSpaceForum #17ASF #ATSF2024 #space #spaceindustry #spaceinnovation #networking https://lnkd.in/gqCmVkJx
