Excited to share insights from a recent conversation with Rob van Straten, the visionary CEO of Skytree, during our latest episode of Bright Founders Talk. During our discussion, Rob emphasized several key points that we find highly valuable: - Rob delved into the technological innovations at Skytree, focusing on direct air capture (DAC) technologies that hold promise for significantly reducing atmospheric CO2. - Moreover, Rob called for collaboration rather than confrontation, especially with industries traditionally seen as part of the problem, such as the oil sector. "I believe that the oil companies are part of the solution". - This enlightening discussion underscores the importance of technology and cooperation in our fight against climate change, emphasizing that effective solutions will require contributions from all sectors of society and corners of the globe. How are we doing in tackling the climate crisis? Anjali Grover and Ryan Panchadsaram sat down with David Biello of TED Conferences to discuss the Speed & Scale 2024 Global Climate Tracker: "We’ve gone from catastrophe to bad, but we can do better … When we looked at our key results, many of them were off course or failing. But there was some good news, and we think there's a lot of reasons to pay attention to that good news." The bright spots: 🚗 Electric vehicles ☀️Renewables 💸 Venture funding for clean tech Check out the video here:

The response that launched a thousand cities across the world -- a statement that started it all: "surely we can remove it." Let this serve as a friendly reminder that as we close out the year, there are millions of people all over the world working on the solution to climate change. Our work is far from over. Now is not the time to rest. Now is not the time to lose hope. Now is not the time to throw in the towel. Now is the time to double down and keep moving forward, to keep fighting for not only our collective futures, but also for our present. Now is the time to educate yourself on the ways that you can get involved and take action, to learn about what others are doing to provide solutions, and share that knowledge with everyone you know. There are countless providers out there tackling climate change at angles and degrees unimaginable. You wouldn't believe it! Tiles made from fungi; gas to power vehicles from seaweed (and plastics as well!); construction and architecture companies changing the foundation of how they source materials. The list is exhaustive. There is power in numbers. And with 8.5 billion people on the planet... Id say we're onto something 😉 Clip from my interview with Kumar Dattatreyan, ICF PCC, from Agile Meridian and the #DisruptorMethod, on how I started my company to remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere and cool down the planet. BY 2030 WE'LL HAVE COLLECTIVELY CHOSEN ONE OF TWO FUTURES "There is no doubt that we are facing exponential impacts of climate change. There is also no doubt, however, that that is being met by exponential progress of the technologies that can help to address climate change," Christiana Figueres, co-architect of the Paris Agreement, in A New Climate Vision. TED Countdown. https://lnkd.in/g8dEns-Q So what we have here is a race between two exponential curves: negative compounding climate challenges, and exponentially increasing technology impact. By 2030, we will have collectively chosen between Door #1: dystopia, or Door #2: Humanity in balance with nature. Explore these options with us and paint a picture of a better future at our 'Swarm-style' Green Economy Conference. Wednesday 11/13/24, 8AM-4PM, live at L.A. What is visioning and why do we do it? We cannot plan for a world we cannot imagine. As the world grapples with the climate crisis, how can we achieve emissions targets while also ensuring that people are at the forefront of policy and planning? In this video, we explain how ‘visioning’ can be an invaluable method for participatory climate action, including residents and ensuring their buy-in, when designing cities that are climate resilient. #Watch to know why we used visioning to imagine a netzero future for Panaji in our upcoming report, ““Net Zero Panaji: 2050 Vision Report” Launching soon!
