Over the years since COVID started, I have managed to document numerous wildlife behaviour visually and/or acoustically, with the objectives of using these wildlife videos for the teaching of behaviour from an interdisciplinary approach, and to understand wildlife behaviour in their natural/urban habitats. This short video (of a Sunda Woodpecker) probably remains one of my favourites for teaching behaviour. It is quite common in Singapore, especially if you have a keen sense of hearing their calls and pecking behaviour. The most questions asked are: what is this bird doing, and why? is it foraging, or pecking to disturb a grub inside the trunk? Or is it trying to communicate with another of its own kind by pecking? If yes, then why does it still peck when it can vocalize? Does the pecking or vocalizing relate to its quality? This video is just one of many clips that I have begun to use for teaching; hopefully one day I can replace all of the documentaries that I have been using previously to teach behaviour and other related topics like behavioural changes to marine and terrestrial noise pollution. #woodpecker #bioacoustics #naturesounds

Today (April 27th) is Crow & Raven Appreciation Day...of course we're celebrating!🐦⬛ Here are some fun facts about our favorite corvids: ✅ Tool Use: Crows are known for their advanced tool-using capabilities, such as using sticks or pebbles to extract food from hard-to-reach places. ✅ Strong Memory: Crows have impressive memory retention, allowing them to recognize individual humans and other animals for years after an initial encounter. ✅ Gift-giving: Some crows have been observed leaving gifts, such as buttons or trinkets, for humans who have been kind to them, showcasing their ability to form relationships and express gratitude. ✅ Adaptive Behavior: Crows can adapt to diverse environments, thriving in urban, suburban, and wild settings, which is one reason they are so widespread around the world. ✅ Playful Behavior: Some crow species engage in playful activities, such as sliding down snow-covered roofs, showing that play isn't limited to mammals. Just a few of the reasons we love these intelligent birds here at Two Crows Creative! 💜🖤 #CrowAndRavenAppreciationDay #FeatheredFriends #TwoCrowsCreative #digitalmarketing

These two little abbreviations are commonly mixed up. The trick to using the right one lies in knowing what each one means. I.e. means “that is” (in Latin, id est), and it’s used to restate something that was just said: Domestic cats (i.e., felis catus) are found on every continent except Antarctica. In contrast, e.g. means “for example” (exempli gratia in Latin): Long-haired cats (e.g., Persians, Maine coons, and Ragdolls) require regular grooming to keep their coats healthy. If you’re wondering which one to use, just substitute “that is” and “for example” to help you decide. #proofreading #grammar

NEVER Put These 2 Fish Together Aquarium enthusiasts, meet the red-mouthed cichlid—a real troublemaker in disguise. This sneaky predator might look harmless, but it’s known for turning peaceful tanks into chaos. I learned the hard way when my swordtails mysteriously started vanishing. Adding new fish is exciting, but knowing their behavior is key to a balanced tank. Do your homework before welcoming a new finned friend to your aquarium. Not all fish are team players, and some, like this one, prefer their own rules. Share this video if you learned something new about maintaining an aquarium! #AquariumTips #FishCompatibility #DrTimsAquatics
