2025: A Pivotal Year for European Space Policy The European space landscape is entering a new phase in 2025. As global competition intensifies and new challenges emerge, the year ahead offers an opportunity to align our strategies with updates to the European Union's space-related policies, such as the Space Strategy for Europe. This week, the 17th European Space Conference in Brussels set the stage for the key discussions that will shape space policy in 2025. From sustainability and technological leadership to Europe's role in an evolving global space economy, the conference underscored the need for a coordinated approach to maintaining Europe’s competitive edge. For organizations like SPACE AISBL and the Globally Competitive Space Systems (GCSS) Partnership, responding proactively to these policy updates is not just a necessity—it’s a chance to help shape the future of European space innovation. These policies serve as a foundation for driving sustainable growth, fostering collaboration, and ensuring Europe’s leadership in the global space economy. Our objective in 2025 is to integrate these evolving policy frameworks into SPACE AISBL’s strategic direction. This means: • Aligning with Priorities: Ensuring that our initiatives support the overarching goals of the Space Strategy for Europe, including sustainability, technological leadership, and international collaboration. • Driving Stakeholder Engagement: Providing a platform for the European space community to contribute to policy discussions, helping to refine and implement strategic objectives. • Facilitating Innovation: Leveraging the guidance of updated policies to support cutting-edge projects that enhance Europe's global competitiveness. As we move forward, the discussions from this week’s European Space Conference provide a crucial reference point for the year ahead. What are your key takeaways from the conference, and what do you see as the most pressing priorities for the European space policy in 2025? And with potential relevance to the Partnership scope?
