Adult learners mostly attend college with the goal of achieving a better career, aiming for improved prospects for themselves and their families. Colleges that actively support these learners in reaching their career aspirations from day one are positioned for success. Engaging in career-focused activities, such as employer job fairs and other interactions, can equip learners with the necessary skills and connections for internships and job opportunities. #CareerDevelopment #HigherEducation #ProfessionalGrowth #chcp

Recently, I had the privilege to attend the Naveen Jindal School of Management, UT Dallas Internship and Job Fair, and I believe that as a junior, it was a fantastic opportunity to meet several employers and learn about the skills they are currently seeking. And most importantly, I got the opportunity to network with many people. I would like to extend my gratitude to all the employers who participated in the JSOM Career Fair and guided me, including Texas Instruments, Southwest Airlines, Charles Schwab and Toyota North America. One key takeaway I would like to share with everyone is that whenever you have the chance, you should attend these internship and job fairs. It gives you a much better understanding of what employers are looking for in terms of skills and qualifications. Secondly, you should aim to meet as many employers as possible during these fairs because you never know when you might leave a lasting impression on someone that could benefit your career. You all should always keep your resume completely up to date, and I think the elevator pitch is a very important thing, so you should be prepared for that. For the elevator pitch, you can take guidance from your mentor or friend, anyone. I look forward to attending more of these fairs and building as many connections as I can. A special thanks to the JSOM Career Management Center - The University of Texas at Dallas for organizing such an excellent fair. I believe their efforts greatly prepare JSOM students for their professional success. #hireJSOM #UTDallas #JSOM #Career #Jobfair #Internshipfair #Business #BsCisTech #IT #Businessanalyst #Networking #Texasinstruments #Southwestairlines #Charlesschwab #Toyotanorthamerica #Jpmorgan

It was good to be able to support the BAE Systems team at Thursday’s careers fair in Bristol, aimed specifically at those affected by Dyson’s recent redundancy announcement. I could not fail to be struck by the enthusiasm, capability, and passion displayed by those seeking new positions. I met people with apprenticeships cut short, others with a few years’ postgraduate experience, and those with a wealth of engineering experience to take to their next role. As an engineer, I’ve been taught to look beyond the obvious and discern what’s missing, so let’s not lose sight of anyone impacted but unable to attend: maybe busy, maybe unwell, or maybe feeling overwhelmed and in need of a friendly chat. In a world of often-bewildering recruitment processes, I was encouraged by the range and number of UK-based engineering companies attending, all stepping up for the event at short notice. Businesses attend these events to achieve recruitment targets and fill talent gaps, but as individuals we were also there to support those affected and help each one to answer the big and unexpected question of “what next?”. The corporate sales pitches swiftly turned to more personal, tailored conversations and practical careers advice. If you’re considering a role in BAE Systems, feel free to get in touch with any of us who were there on the day. Our organisation has a healthy orderbook and our teams are delivering some of the largest, most complex and technically-challenging engineering projects in the UK. #bae #Dyson #EngineeringOpportunities #DefenceJobs
