💡 📚 Did you know that college students whose career centers help them find an internship are 2.2 times more likely to get a paid internship than an unpaid one or no internship at all? Right now, college career centers are gearing up for spring career fair season, with many coming up in February. Find out when your career fair is and GO! This is an amazing opportunity to practice networking, discover new opportunities, get a LinkedIn headshot, and (🤞) land an internship or job interview. 🎯 Before the fair, do your research and come prepared with meaningful questions about your target companies that you can't find the answers to online. Practice your "elevator pitch" and highlight the unique experiences and traits that make you a strong fit for the company. 🎯 If you have a great conversation, get that person's contact information, connect with them on LinkedIn, and send a follow up note mentioning something specific that you talked about. 🎯 If you apply to a job or internship you found there, message the contact on LinkedIn to remind them who you are, let them know you applied, and reiterate why you are the best candidate. 🚪 Opportunities are at your doorstep, it's on you to take advantage of them. 8moA coal miner with 50 years of experience once told me.... "the greatest disservice America has ever committed was not telling minings successful story!"... mining and universities need to develop if we expect electrification, EVs, carbon reduction, etc. We have roles in surveying, geology, engineers, drone pilots, planning, project management, management, controls, high voltage, etc.
