🌱 Celebrating National Inclusion Week 🌈 In honour of #NationalInclusionWeek, I want to share how our Rainbows group is committed to being inclusive of all abilities, both seen and hidden. Inclusivity forms the backbone of our activities, making sure every girl, irrespective of her abilities, feels welcomed and valued. The impact of inclusivity extends far beyond just the activities we organize—it changes attitudes and lives. When we create inclusive environments, we break down barriers and challenge stereotypes. This shift not only empowers individuals but also cultivates empathy, understanding, and a deeper sense of community. When people feel valued and included, it transforms their outlook, promotes positive mental health, and encourages personal and professional growth. To mark this special week, why not consider connecting with a non-profit organisation in your local community or online? Volunteering your time to support charities that assist those with disabilities can be incredibly rewarding. Not only does it give back to the community, but it also opens doors to learning more about diversity, building meaningful connections, and fostering a spirit of inclusion. By volunteering, we can all learn more about our community and ourselves. Let's make an impact together. What actions will you take to support inclusion? As we celebrate Pride Month, it’s important to remember that true allyship extends way beyond June. Authentic support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community involves consistent and meaningful actions that start from within our organizations. Here’s how you can make a difference and become a true ally to the 2SLGBTQ+ youth and families who support your brand. Start from Within: ✨ Inclusivity should be embedded in your culture all year round, not just during Pride Month. ✨ Offer training and workshops on diversity, equity, and inclusion. ✨ Invite your team to share their pronouns in their email signatures if they feel comfortable doing so. Avoid Rainbow Washing: ✨ Custom Pride collections can be great, but be mindful of rainbow capitalism. ✨ Ensure your initiatives are genuine and not just for show or profit. Provide Year-Round Support: ✨ True allyship means helping the 2SLGBTQ+ community outside of Pride Month. ✨ Look for ways you can make an impact, like through partnerships, donations, or advocacy. Let’s commit to making a difference every day, not just during Pride Month. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive world for everyone. #PrideMonth #RainbowWashing #AuthenticAllyship

Excited to share my recent volunteering experience with Blended Pledge! The Blended Pledge is a non-profit focused on amplifying diverse voices—women, LGBTQ+, and underrepresented minorities—by providing grants to all diverse voices in the community to speak or have a seat on in-person and virtual stages. The grant program aims to help cover event tickets, travel, and digital content to ensure these voices are heard on industry stages globally. I had the pleasure of working with Lori Benson NISCL-CSCL/CSCMP and her Blended Pledge team with such passion and vision, and to my fellow volunteer Vanya Rolli, Jennifer Gao, Tanvir Islam who worked alongside me to make this happened! Together, we created a lasting impact by: - Built a custom rubric Excel tool that streamlined the evaluation of applicants for event grants. This tool evaluating applicants score based on criteria and sub-criteria of application and this tool helping to make the process smooth and time efficient. -Designed a comprehensive procedure flow map and revamped the playbook to streamline workflow and ensure alignment with organizational goals. This initiative clarified each step in the process, enhanced efficiency, and supported consistent decision-making, ultimately driving better outcomes for the organization. - Incorporated data visualizations and technical features into the tool to help quickly identifying strong applicants and enhance decision-making processes. This experience allows me to reinforce my commitment to promoting inclusive practices and empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds. Being an Active Listener and Supporting LGBTQIA+ Colleagues 🌈 Here are some practical tips to be better allies and create inclusive spaces: 👂 Listen Actively-When an LGBTQIA+ friend or colleague shares their experiences, lend an empathetic ear. Create a safe space for them to express themselves without judgment. Sometimes, all someone needs is someone who truly hears them out. 📕 Educate Yourself-Take the initiative to learn about LGBTQIA+ history, terminology, and issues. Understand that everyone’s experiences are unique. Avoid making assumptions or invalidating their feelings. 📣 Amplify Voices-Share their stories, art, or advocacy work on social media or within your network. Use your platform to elevate their voices. Encourage others to do the same. Visibility matters, and your support can make a difference. ✊ Be an Upstander-If you witness anti-LGBTQIA+ comments or jokes, speak up. Be an effective bystander and challenge harmful behavior. Your intervention matters in creating a more respectful environment. 🌈 Support LGBTQIA+ Organizations-Attend local community events, donate to LGBTQIA+ charities, and uplift LGBTQIA+ artists and businesses. Your support contributes to a more vibrant and inclusive community. Remember, allyship is an ongoing commitment. Let’s actively listen, learn, and stand up for equality. Together, we create a more supportive world! 🏳️🌈 #ListenWithEmpathy #LearnAndListen #AllyshipMatters #QueerVoices #EqualityCareers #30daysofallyship

A sentiment I’ve heard a lot over the last two weeks is “I don’t know what I can/should do.” Here’s something you can do: Support organizations who are working to support and protect the folks who are likely to be most impacted by the new administration. One way to support them is by donating. Is it sexy? Nope. But it is necessary. Organizations like Rocky Mountain Equality need resources to continue to do the work. I hope you’ll consider supporting us (just $10 can have an impact!) through this link, or giving to another organization working to support immigrants, trans folks, and BIPOC.

Since 1987, IYG has been a lifeline for LGBTQ+ young people, standing as the oldest, continually operating LGBTQ+ youth-serving organization in North America. Today, we serve more individuals, in more places, and in more ways than ever before—but we need you to continue this mission. For many LGBTQ+ young people, coming out is a courageous step toward authenticity, often met with heartbreaking rejection. Left to navigate homelessness, food insecurity, and a lack of basic resources, these young people face challenges no one should endure alone. At IYG, we provide more than essentials—we deliver hope, dignity, and a future. 💜 How We Change Lives 💜 Through our Basic Needs Program, we ensure #LGBTQ+ young people have access to: 🌟 Culturally relevant food from a fully stocked pantry and fresh, hot meals five days a week. 🌟 Clothing and transition closets with everyday and gender-affirming apparel to celebrate identity. 🌟 Hygiene support, laundry, and shower facilities, restoring dignity and self-respect. 🌟 Housing assistance through HOPWA and Direct Cash Transfers, ensuring stability and safety. ✨ Mental health counseling and HIV/AIDS testing for holistic care. But we don’t stop at basic needs. We’re committed to empowering LGBTQ+ youth for a brighter future: ✨ Job training, financial literacy, and leadership programs to prepare for independence. ✨ Cooking and food preservation classes to build life skills and self-reliance. ✨ Transportation assistance to access resources and opportunities. ✨ Comprehensive advocacy to secure vital legal documents for a stable life. 💰 Why Your Support Matters: Every dollar you give powers life-changing services that help LGBTQ+ youth thrive. Your donation directly combats #homelessness, ensures access to #food and #healthcare, and empowers young people to break free from cycles of #poverty and rejection. 🌈 This Giving Tuesday, take action. Be the reason a young person finds hope, safety, and opportunity. 🌈 Donate here: https://lnkd.in/gNUbbSep If you have any questions, feel free to contact me / Shelly Fitzgerald, CFRM / Whitney Morris-Lange, CFRM. #givingtuesday #nonprofit #indiana #indianapolis #usa #marioncounty

The social climate during the current administration has raised significant concerns for many Americans. Policies and executive actions have created ripple effects across our communities, disproportionately impacting vulnerable populations. One stark example is the halt in federal funding for critical social services, which has placed many essential programs at risk. This includes support for homelessness non-profits, food assistance programs, and healthcare services. Thousands of individuals and families now face uncertainty about access to basic necessities. Moreover, the dismissal of federal staff focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives further threatens efforts to create equitable opportunities, while the proposed ban on transgender individuals in the military marks a step backward in LGBTQ+ rights. These actions highlight systemic challenges to inclusivity, fairness, and support for marginalized communities. Call to Action: We can’t sit on the sidelines as these vital services are stripped away. Here’s how we can respond: 1. Stay Informed: Follow credible news sources to understand how these changes are impacting your community. 2. Support Local Organizations: Many non-profits stepping in to fill the gaps need financial donations and volunteer help. 3. Advocate for Change: Contact your elected representatives and demand action to restore funding to social services and protect inclusive policies. 4. Amplify Voices: Use your platform to share stories of those affected and spread awareness about these pressing issues. It’s up to all of us to push back against these changes and ensure our country works for all Americans. Together, we can make a difference. Let’s fight for equity, compassion, and justice. #wewontgoback #progressiveforwardthinking #notooligarchregime

Dear Community, As you have likely heard, The Equality Crew has been at risk of closing our doors due to lack of funding and difficulty maintaining operating capacity. Over the past month, we have had many hard conversations about the sustainability of our programs. At the core of what we do is the idea that kids of all identities deserve fun spaces where they can be themselves. As the only organization in Arkansas dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ youth, we recognize how essential the work we have done is for the community. Every member of our team is dedicated to ensuring that these spaces can continue regardless of the outcome of The Equality Crew as a non-profit. The feasibility of continued operations has become less and less likely for several reasons: Financials–we have struggled to bring in enough income to cover our core operating costs. Leadership–our board has had significant turnover (95%) which has impacted our ability to meet operating needs. The truth of our situation is that, without a sizable amount of financial support and an expansion of a committed leadership team, The Equality Crew will cease to function by September 30th at the latest. As an organization founded by youth from our community, it is only fitting that we turn to you all to discuss the future of The Equality Crew and how we can create a path that honors everyone. In order to facilitate this conversation, we’d like to invite you to attend a town hall meeting to discuss these challenges in detail and explore possible solutions to keep access to these resources available. We are hosting one in person meeting and one virtual, in order to give the most community members an opportunity to engage in these discussions. Please follow the links below to register and let us know you would like to have a voice in the future of The Equality Crew. - August 7th - In Person from 6-7:30PM - Center for Nonprofits @ St. Mary's, Rogers, AR: https://lnkd.in/gtDTPs2H - August 11th - Virtual from 12-1:30PM - Google Meet: https://lnkd.in/gjDH8TSt If you are unable to attend the virtual or in-person town hall but would like to provide your thoughts, please reach out to hello@theequalitycrew.org with any feedback.
