Linear TV is one medium where breaking the ad clutter/impact of TVCs, especially during primetime has always been a challenge for the Media Agencies. That is why, the relatively recent concept of creating 'Ad break bonus content' on news channels like India Today TV has come as a pleasant surprise. It has potentially created a new premium ad 'branded slot' opportunity by pulling up the otherwise lower TRP deliveries during the countless ad breaks on the news channels. It remains to be seen if the incremental TRPs come through. Maybe during mega events on Election exit polling and results days. Interesting pricing mechanism to tick the revenue box nonetheless.
