Royal College of Nursing - Company’s Post

Today we’ve released a devastating report highlighting the unsafe conditions nursing staff and patients are facing while being treated in inappropriate spaces across the UK. With over 5,000 testimonies from nursing staff, the report reveals how widespread this crisis has become and how it’s putting lives at risk. Patients dying in corridors, lack of equipment and unsafe practice – demoralised nursing staff have shared how this negatively impacts them professionally and personally, and how they cannot provide the care they were trained to provide. A heartbreaking report to read for patients and our nhs staff. So many of these nurses planning to leave. No one should have to work in these conditions - high moral injury just like the pandemic! Nicola - you've got us and we're right behind you!

Pleased to hear you have called out what is becoming embedded within the culture of how we do things has truly crossed the line! It’s a disgrace and does not address the fundamental challenges.

This report is a heartbreaking reminder of the urgent need to address the systemic failures in healthcare that jeopardise both patient safety and staff well-being

this is vital as well as putting patients at risk it will inevitably put nurses at risk who are only trying to do their best. increases the chance of referral to NMC no doubt - we will raise awareness in NMCW to escalate and contact RCN

I want to take contact with NMC.

Conditions are critical, on a nightshift we have 15 patients to one nurse . We do our best to try & keep patients safe and provide the best care in these circumstances but it’s very mentally and physically difficult. What is the answer ??

Unfortunately, such conditions which are tragic for patients and their families and demoralising for staff, are far too common and have been allowed to continue for far too long. It is incumbent on us to work together and find solutions, not just for today but also for tomorrow.

When Datix, risk matrix are diluted by management to reduce the red to amber or even green it shows lack of importance of safety and managers nit being accountable. Lead self, lead others.
