We talk about values, but we also want to 'do' values. Our latest blog by Hilary Causer & Dr Karen Shaw sets out the value base that underpins our work: '... we want to work transparently, with integrity, honesty and authenticity ... this blog [is] an enactment of those values.' https://lnkd.in/ebrRVK35

Revisioning nurse distress and suicidality
About us
In this groundbreaking and transformative research project, we are working with nurses, for nurses, to revision the ways in which nurse distress and suicidality are articulated and understood. We will be inviting nurses from all four nations of the United Kingdom, and with diverse backgrounds, to participate in our research across five different studies. We are an interdisciplinary and ethnically diverse group of researchers with a wide range of nursing, social care and academic backgrounds. We are based at the Universities of Surrey, Birmingham City, Hull and Keele, and the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio. We are funded by the Wellcome Trust.

This shocking report has been published today, sharing #Nurses accounts of providing patient care in unsafe conditions - #CorridorCare - it makes for very difficult reading, and presents in print the truth of nursing experience in the #NHS today. #MoralDistress #HealthCare #PatientCare
Today we’ve released a devastating report highlighting the unsafe conditions nursing staff and patients are facing while being treated in inappropriate spaces across the UK. With over 5,000 testimonies from nursing staff, the report reveals how widespread this crisis has become and how it’s putting lives at risk. Patients dying in corridors, lack of equipment and unsafe practice – demoralised nursing staff have shared how this negatively impacts them professionally and personally, and how they cannot provide the care they were trained to provide. The full report is available here: https://bit.ly/3WiS8wB
