Last night, as I started packing my bags for Vegas, it hit me: this year's bucket list is truly something else! The thrill of anticipation is real, and it's only just the beginning. Tonight, I'm gearing up for the semi-final of the European Conference League Aston Villa Football Club —a momentous occasion that adds to the whirlwind of excitement. But it's not just about the adventures on the horizon. Both personally and professionally, this year has been a journey of growth and accomplishment. I'm thrilled to announce that we've successfully onboarded not one, but TWO new customers! It's been a testament to hard work, dedication, and the power of collaboration. As we wrap up project planning before Friday evening, the sense of accomplishment is palpable. Last night at my son's state fair, I saw the magic of teamwork in action! 🌟 The kids absolutely rocked it, showing up as a united team. They spoke confidently in front of a whole gym of people (!!), cheered each other on, and nailed their presentations. It reminded me of 3 key areas for building a high-performing team: 1. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤: When we work together and support one another, we can achieve incredible things. 2. 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐰: Believing in yourself and each other makes tackling new challenges exciting and rewarding. 3. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: Having a leader who guides, believes in, and pushes you is essential. I’ve finally come up for air. What a ride! Earlier this month, I had the absolute privilege of joining the first-ever riders&elephants Global Gathering in stunning Queenstown, and I’m still buzzing from the experience. Here’s what made it unforgettable: 🌟 Connection: Meeting people I’ve collaborated with online for years and making new, meaningful connections. 🌟 Inspiration: Jeremy Dean and the incredible R&E community brought fresh perspectives, heart, and energy into every moment. 🌟 Learning: Diving deep into the tools we use to transform leadership, teams, and cultures. I left with powerful new resources to enhance my practice – from Beautiful Questions to Reputation to Neuro-Nudges. The energy in the room was palpable – there were laughs, tears, breakthroughs, and even a few dance moves! A highlight for me? Witnessing the power of shared emotional language and intentional culture design, which underpins everything we do as Elephant Riders. It reminded me of why I do this work and why it matters. To everyone who attended, mentored, and made this event extraordinary: thank you. My cup is full, my brain is buzzing, and my heart is all in. Now, it’s time for a little recharge (my social battery is a firefly, too!) before taking these lessons forward into the work we do. It’s been a hectic few months... As a result, you may have noticed that I’ve been MIA on here. I’m not going to glorify my busyness, which is what we often see on social media and within society. The truth of the matter is that at times I’ve found it counterproductive to wear many hats. Your focus is diluted, and you feel like you’re barely keeping your head above water. When you’re immersed in the daily tasks of driving your business forwards, it can be difficult to see the progress and the impact. At times, I can become fixated on pursuing what needs to be done rather than reflecting on the highlights and successes. Recently, THIIS Magazine did a feature article on my business to celebrate our 20-year anniversary. It made me stop in my tracks and take a moment… From a market stall in Leeds to a thriving business with plans for expansion, I allowed myself the time to acknowledge my win and the grit I’ve put in. Of course, I can’t take all the credit. I have a supportive family and dedicated team around me. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I caught the end of Tour de France stage. Tadej Pogacar won his 5th stage. He ended up in a group of three at the finish line, then it became a group of two. He attacked and distanced his competitors to win another stage. This reminded me of a quote by Ed Milet: "Winning is more fun than fun is fun." We often focus on trying to have fun and be happy. But real fun and enjoyment come from fulfillment, accomplishment, and inspired action. Watching Pogacar, he was just having fun, winning is fun for him. He’s the best bike rider in the world right now, one of the greatest of our times. if you watch how he celebrates his interviews afterward, or before the race, it's just him fully aligned, authentic, present, and loving winning life. So, the question for you today is: Are you winning? If you're not feeling happy, or if things are hard, stressful, or stagnant, ask yourself this. Are you winning in life? Are you winning at work? Are you winning in your relationships, with your family, or as a parent? One philosophy that stuck with me from Graham Weston at Rackspace is: "Everyone wants to be a valued member of a winning team on an inspiring mission." I'll dig into the other aspects of this philosophy in another video, but winning is crucial. If your team’s not winning, even if you're inspired and have values, something's missing. Ask yourself, am I winning? It's a useful lens to examine your life, relationships, work, or business. If the answer’s no, what can you do about it? How can you get back to winning?

Remember: 'You need to take time out to work on your business, not in your business.' Heather Matthews' Vistage UK journey is a testament to this principle. Joining Vistage initially felt daunting for Heather, taking her 2 years to finally make the leap. However, over the past 7 years, she has never looked back! Setting expectations is necessary for everyone to have the outcomes that they want. Yesterday was the Bolder Boulder, a 10k run that over 40 thousand people participate in. I expected I would run for a bit, walk for a bit. Meet up with friends along the course. Have a leisurely day. Maybe check out the bacon station, wait in line for the kids to do a slip and slide, pause and watch the belly dancers for a bit (it really is a unique race ;). I quickly realized our expectations of race day were *very* misaligned when I started running with my daughter. She started flying as soon as we hit the starting line, was weaving around other runners, and looking over her shoulder to make sure I could keep up. If I knew she was going for a PR, I would have suggested she run with dad. If she knew what my plans were for the race, she would have asked him :) Instead, there we were. In the same place, at the same time, at the exact same event with two *very* different expectations of what was "supposed" to happen. I was thinking about how common this is in business. How frequently we assume that other people want the same outcomes/experiences as we do. How often we don't *explicitly* communicate from the outset. How we simply don't think to have those conversations. We see this *all the time* when kick starting projects for our clients that have big teams involved. Where they all know what the event is, but expect very different experiences and outcomes. To help with this, we created a detailed document that we walk everyone through to ensure *everyone* is aligned - at the outset and during the project - to make sure we hit their collective goals.
