I caught the end of Tour de France stage. Tadej Pogacar won his 5th stage. He ended up in a group of three at the finish line, then it became a group of two. He attacked and distanced his competitors to win another stage. This reminded me of a quote by Ed Milet: "Winning is more fun than fun is fun." We often focus on trying to have fun and be happy. But real fun and enjoyment come from fulfillment, accomplishment, and inspired action. Watching Pogacar, he was just having fun, winning is fun for him. He’s the best bike rider in the world right now, one of the greatest of our times. if you watch how he celebrates his interviews afterward, or before the race, it's just him fully aligned, authentic, present, and loving winning life. So, the question for you today is: Are you winning? If you're not feeling happy, or if things are hard, stressful, or stagnant, ask yourself this. Are you winning in life? Are you winning at work? Are you winning in your relationships, with your family, or as a parent? One philosophy that stuck with me from Graham Weston at Rackspace is: "Everyone wants to be a valued member of a winning team on an inspiring mission." I'll dig into the other aspects of this philosophy in another video, but winning is crucial. If your team’s not winning, even if you're inspired and have values, something's missing. Ask yourself, am I winning? It's a useful lens to examine your life, relationships, work, or business. If the answer’s no, what can you do about it? How can you get back to winning?

Recently, Global Victors (GV) organized a recognition event where many hardworking individuals were rewarded for their dedication and achievements. It was incredible to see them share their success stories on social media, with so many people congratulating and praising them. But here’s the reality: while they were hustling, grinding, and putting in the work, only a few truly supported them. In fact, some didn’t offer any encouragement at all—and there were even those who criticized them. This teaches us an important lesson: some people won’t support you when you’re working hard, but they’ll celebrate you once you’re successful. So don’t let the lack of support stop you. Keep pushing forward for yourself, your dreams, and the people who truly matter. Your journey is yours alone, and your success will speak louder than any words ever could. Stay consistent, work hard, and make yourself proud—because at the end of the day, it’s not about proving others wrong, it’s about proving yourself right. Keep hustling!

When I was 18, I had the incredible opportunity to sail across the Atlantic Ocean in the Tall Ships Race. It was an experience that tested my limits, pushed me to my personal best, and created memories that will last a lifetime. But it was also an experience that taught me a valuable lesson about perspective. A lesson that I come back to every day in my business… After 4 weeks at sea, we all knew that boat inside and out. We knew every creak and groan through the rigging and every nook and cranny on deck. At the time, I could have probably navigated it blindfolded - in calm seas of course! However, when we finally stepped off the boat in Bermuda, we took a few paces back and looked at the boat we’d just spent the last month on. And that's when a fellow crew member turned to me and said “Huh, I’d forgotten it was red”. At the time we laughed about it. But, looking back now, it’s one of those key moments that shapes the way that I do marketing today. See, as close to the boat as we had been, we couldn't see the hull from our positions on board. And the same thing happens in a lot of businesses. We become so immersed in day-to-day operations that it's really easy to lose sight of what our businesses are like from an outside perspective. Of what's actually important to our customers. This realisation was a game-changer for me when I set up my own business 13 years ago. It made me realise that we needed to constantly step outside of our boats and see our business through our customers' eyes. We needed to understand their attitudes and needs, their wants, and their pain points so that we can do marketing that resonates with the right people. If you can do that, you'll be well on your way to success. #AtlanticAdventure#TallShipsRace#LimitsPushed#LifetimeMemories#LifeLessons#PerspectiveShift#BusinessLesson#CustomerPerspective#StepOutsideYourBoat#CustomerNeeds#PathToSuccess#MarketingMindset

Last night, as I started packing my bags for Vegas, it hit me: this year's bucket list is truly something else! The thrill of anticipation is real, and it's only just the beginning. I'm thrilled to announce that we've successfully onboarded not one, but TWO new customers! It's been a testament to hard work, dedication, and the power of collaboration. As we wrap up project planning before Friday evening, the sense of accomplishment is palpable. “I’m sorry sir, you’re not making it to Chicago today.” There was a CRAZY thunderstorm and all planes were grounded/ cancelled. Nothing out of Fort Lauderdale either. No way out. I was scheduled to deliver a keynote in Chicago the following day. I desperately started searching for other options. Every option ‘seemed’ like me missing an event for the first time in 10 years. Driving 10 hours to Charlotte. Driving 10 hours to Atlanta. Then, I saw there was ONE MORE flight out of Orlando. And one train that would get me there in time. *buys flight* *buys train ticket* *Packs bag in 13 minutes* Gaby was the real hero by dropping everything and taking me to the train station. I took a 4-hour train to Orlando and with 25 minutes to spare, and got the last flight out to Chicago. Often times people will put limitations on you that are based on THEIR thinking. It may not be a limit, it may just be their limited mindset. Don’t take people’s limitations at face value. If you want/ need to make something happen– Find. A. Way. There is always something you can do. There is always another option. Get creative and get resourceful because when you do, you tend to make things happen. #keynotespeaker #confidence #mindset #travel

New month, let’s start all-over! 👊🏽✨ Every month in the car business is a fresh opportunity to chase our dreams and exceed our own expectations. As we enter this month, let's remember that success isn't handed to us - it's earned through hard work, determination, and a relentless commitment to excellence. If last month didn't go quite as planned, don't be discouraged. Use it as a stepping stone to push yourself forward. Take the lessons learned, craft a strategic plan, and execute it with passion. Whether you're aiming to hit new sales targets, achieve personal milestones, or simply grow as an individual, remember that success is within your reach. It's about pushing past your limits, embracing discomfort, and consistently striving for improvement. So, if you fell short of your goals last month, don't dwell on it. Instead, rise up, recalibrate, and come back stronger than ever. If you want to sell more cars, make those extra calls, connect with more prospects, and refuse to settle for anything less than extraordinary. Here's to conquering fears, achieving greatness, and making May our proudest chapter yet! #LFG 🔥

ENTHUSIASM 😇 When the going gets tough, the tough must not only get going but get going with enthusiasm. In life, everyone has to go through peaks and valleys. If you remain enthusiastic while going through your lowest point, your distance will become shorter, your burden lighter, and your path smoother. Remember, no great achiever has ever lack enthusiasm. To get far in life you must be as enthusiastic about your failure as you are about your success. "Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm." APPRECIATION ✨ Finding myself today right in the middle of huge balloons 🎈🎈and confetti 🎉 made me do it: write this post. In a world of (self-)optimization and constant striving for more, I would like to do something rather unusual here on LinkedIn: pause for a few minutes to share my open and honest appreciation for the wonderful team I have the honor of working with every day ❗️ As long as I can remember, I have been driven by “doing the right things” - for me, this goes hand in hand with a strong belief that shared core values are essential for enabling teams to achieve “the right things” together. My former personnel leader always quoted this simple yet profound saying: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” (source unknown) Being surrounded by people who share the same mindset and values fosters connection on a deeper level and builds trust, which can truly enhance team success. Sometimes, it’s not about the fundamental and big things; it’s especially the little things, like knowing that a few balloons and a handful of confetti would make your colleague really happy - or simply (and I personally think that is quite a big one for most of us actually) saying that someone’s work is appreciated. I appreciate working with our team every single day - even when there are no shiny rose gold surprise birthday bash balloons around. Going through tough times together makes the easier and more straightforward periods so much more enjoyable and fun as well. Eventually, those tough times can and will turn into fun memories as well! 🏔️ Why am I even sharing these rather basic and simple thoughts? Because I am convinced that we rarely tell the people we work with how much we appreciate them - unless we achieve something significant. As a former professional cross-country skier, there’s one thing I will always remember: “Successful cross-country skiers are made during summer!” Essentially, the work put in long before athletes compete in their first race of the season is when it truly counts. The same goes for building teams. Don’t always make it about the big battles: remember to share your appreciation for the little things along the way! 💚

Professional and Personal outcomes will vary... The Three Amigos all did basically the same thing here but Dusty Bottoms had a completely different result than Ned and Lucky. I can relate. Two quick examples... 1. Early in my recruiting career trying to get my footing and then again when I started ProAscend in 2015. 2. Damn near every time I play golf. 🤣 Sometimes, those around me are simply better at something than I am. It sucks to admit but it's true for all of us. That's ok...lean into what you're really good at. Other times, I was just as capable but hadn't quite figured it out yet or needed to adjust what I was doing to get the desired result. And yes...from time to time throughout my career (and still with golf every damn round) I've wondered "how the hell did that happen?". The important thing is to learn from those more successful. Learn from those that have failed. And, most importantly for me, always learn from my own successes and failures. If we end up backasswards more than once doing the same thing then that's on us. 😁
