It wasn’t just about strategies or KPIs—it was about uniting diverse expertise: programmatic professionals, ad technologists, account managers and data analysts. I vividly remember standing in front of the team, leading a discussion on what 𝐂𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 really means and why we were changing job titles to reflect this philosophy. 💡 Customer Success isn’t just a title; it’s a mindset. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭’𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐟 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧. Our role wasn’t just to execute campaigns or analyse data—it was to transform, solve proactively, and build partnerships that lasted. The room was filled with curiosity (and definitely some 𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘮). But by the end, we had alignment: a shared understanding that our success depended on how well we empowered our clients to succeed. 3 bits to share from that experience with CCO & ad-founded business shareholders: 1. 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫: Align your team with a clear definition of success that puts the client at the center. When everyone understands the "why," your team becomes unstoppable. 2. 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐩 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲: It’s not enough to be a programmatic wizard or a data expert. You need to balance technical skill with empathy—understanding your client’s goals, frustrations, and opportunities. 3. 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬: Sales bring clients through the door, but #CustomerSuccess keeps them coming back. Building trust and creating value after the sale is what drives long-term growth and advocacy. Are you in Customer Success? Customer Acquisition Costs are about to go up. Why? The hiatus for companies who were on the sidelines with marketing is coming to an end. In Q1 of this year I saw a lot of senior Sales roles go on the market – this was a good sign. It showed that companies are looking to continue to grow their business rather than merely just surviving. I knew what was going to come next. An influx of marketing hiring – especially senior leadership. And sure enough I had a large uptick in head hunters reach out to me as well. It’s obvious with Sales comes the need for new leads, awareness and assisting channels to help close new business. Now with Meta, Alphabet and Snap all reporting Q1 earnings – we can clearly see that digital ad is accelerating.  And it will continue to grow further as we are also in an election year in the US. What does this mean for marketers? More competition in advertising auctions, a lot more mind share being pulled away from prospects and a lot more competing products that your ICP is going to be familiar with. Which at the end of the day will increase your overall CAC. Are you ready for what’s coming?
