The American Water Charitable Foundation celebrates #GivingTuesday by awarding a $100,000 Corporate Strategic grant to Feeding America, as well as provided American Water employee Giving Accounts with a $100 reward to donate to eligible charities of choice. Today is World Food Day, so we'd like to take moment to highlight the importance of food security within our communities. Last year during our Vital Signs research, we found "Increasing Food Security" to be one of the emerging focus areas. In Saskatchewan, the cost of living is increasing, causing many families to sacrifice food choices for other basic needs like rent. As a result, food banks and other organizations are experiencing a rise in the usage of their services. This is why funds held at the Community Foundation like the Vital Community Fund and the Regina Food for Learning Legacy Fund are so important. They help to bridge this funding gap experienced by charities. The Northern Piedmont Community Foundation (NPCF) is proud to announce $28,750 in grants distributed through the Culpeper Foundation Fund to 14 nonprofit organizations dedicated to tackling key community challenges in human services, healthcare, and food security. RNDC was the recipient of a $100,000 grant from the Mankato Area Foundation (MAF). MAF received a $300,000 donation though the Taylor Family Farms Foundation to address regional food insecurity and RNDC will use its funds to coordinate a regional effort to rescue surplus food for food shelves.
