Thank you, Las Vegas HEALS, for interviewing me and publishing a short article on innovation. Innovation leads to growth in the healthcare industry and improvement of patient outcomes, so it is a win-win. However, it sometimes feels too risky, even though not innovating is much riskier in the long term. Ask me about a systematic approach to #innovation in #healtcare. I can share with you some inspiring examples.

Saint Francis Hospital's Healthy Village model seeks to enhance current clinical offerings and bring needed social services into the community. Medical care only impacts about 20% of a population’s overall health outcomes. The other 80% is attributed environmental and socioeconomic factors, collectively known as the social drivers of health like healthy food to eat or safe housing. This program aims to create a one-stop-shop for patients to receive medical care and address external needs. Way to go! Learn more in this Delaware Business Times feature: https://buff.ly/3CxiYKH

🗳 In our efforts at Vot-ER to build healthier communities powered by an inclusive democracy, we work with hospitals and clinics across all 50 states and have bipartisan support from a range of Governors and Secretaries of State. Our new piece in NPR highlights this: "From Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Kansas to prestigious tertiary institutions like UCSF Hospital, CEOs and hospital leaders are rallying their organizations to integrate questions about voter registration into the patient intake process along with more traditional questions about current symptoms, diet and health history… Voter registration in hospitals and clinics is a transformational frontier in health — a commitment to addressing the social determinants of health in their entirety. Because ultimately, when our democracy lifts more voices, our communities also thrive." Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eiPeReVJ

Midweek Journal Reading, Vol. XV: Special Voting Edition The ability to vote is essential in advocating for policies that address health disparities, improve Latine and Hispanic communities' health outcomes, and is a critical determinant of community health and well-being.
