We’re honored to announce that VentureWell has been selected by NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration to lead a transformative new program focused on fostering innovation and resilience within the blue economy. The VentureWell Ocean Enterprise Accelerator, funded by NOAA, will empower early-stage ventures to scale solutions and commercialize climate resilience technologies, including ocean renewable energy, coastal and ocean carbon sequestration, and hazard mitigation. Over the next four years, we’ll support up to 220 ventures, providing them with the tools, mentorship, and resources needed to bring ocean-based solutions to life. BAD CARBON, GOOD CARBON? – NEW ROLE FOR AN UNLOVED ONE. Nearly 30% of the worldwide Greenhouse Gas Emissions are related to industrial processes. We decided to work on a solution which helps to decarbonise the industry. We are: Evgeniya Cheremushkina – a high energy physicist who worked at CERN for a long time and me with my experience in business development. We met at the Venture Builder Carbon13 and teamed up with a first ideation approach (phase 1). Our plan is to work out the concrete idea and the business plan over the next few months (phase2). Our first common business trip led us to HANNOVER MESSE where we met lots of lovely people from the world of research, such as Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT), and companies from heavy industry. Many thanks for the inspiring discussions and sharing your experiences, which help us very much to develop our business. We are currently looking for collaborations in research and companies of hard-to-abate industries. Please contact us and we will tell you more about what we want to do. Just by the way, because it is not our topic: We were very impressed how innovatively Norway is tackling climate change. Two XTC Global Finalists, SeaO2 and Takachar, make the XPRIZE list of the Top 100 most promising carbon removal companies. 👊 🌎 XPRIZE Carbon Removal, funded by Elon Musk and the MUSK FOUNDATION, aims to combat climate change. This $100M competition is the largest incentive prize in history. The Top 100 includes innovators from 25 countries, representing all carbon dioxide removal pathways: Air, Ocean, Land, Rocks. 🏭 🌊 SeaO2 focuses on direct capture of carbon from the ocean. The startup was a Global Finalist in the Deep Tech Climate Innovations Startup Challenge at CES 2024, in partnership with Cadence Design Systems. 🌲 Takachar turns crop and forest residues in rural communities into carbon-negative bioproducts. Takachar was a finalist at the XTC 2021 Global Finals presented by TechCrunch. A few months later, the team went on to win the first-ever The Earthshot Prize in the “Clean Our Air” Category, taking home £1M in prize money. Attending events like the Energy Institute Climate Tech event shouldn't be missed. So let's talk about what I observed last night. Young entrepreneur in the energy sector building their businesses and making their dreams a reality. Impressive bright minds of the future. During the networking session, I realised we're not just seeing incremental improvements anymore. We're witnessing a complete reinvention of how we power our world. Young innovators are questioning everything we thought we knew about energy. But having great ideas isn't enough. These brilliant minds need three things: capital to experiment, mentors who've been there, and platforms to connect with fellow innovators. Most importantly, they need people who believe in their vision. The energy transition isn't just another market shift. It's the biggest opportunity of our generation. While others see challenges, I see a chance to rebuild our energy infrastructure from the ground up – cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable than ever before. Ps. Sightline Climate (CTVC) is absolutely right here: success in climate tech means deployment at scale. This requires broader skillsets and more long-range planning than building software does — and execution with actual atoms. Commonwealth Fusion Systems making fusion power plants and startups working on green cement or solar-powered industrial heat operate very differently than software startups.  And they’ll be financed differently. The finance players who understand this and put together the right funding tools will be poised to cash in as the energy transition completely transforms industry. https://lnkd.in/egZTfVaM
