Purpose – having a purpose is essential, especially after military service. Everyone’s purpose is unique, but for me, this Ralph Waldo Emerson quote resonates deeply. Sure, money is nice, but it’s not my top priority. If it’s yours, that’s perfectly fine. However, I’ve found immense joy and happiness in helping others, especially Veterans, service members, and those interested in their personal development. What about you? For some of the veterans we treat, their individual experiences during their military career or after leaving the military, have led to strong feelings of shame and a tendency to think about themselves in negative, highly critical ways. Veterans with mobility issues through being wounded, injured, illness or age, deserve to be able to travel with dignity, not be manhandked on and off aircraft like a sack of potatoes, risking injury, or death. They deserve to know their wheelchairs will not be damaged during a flight or during loading and unloading. United Airlines had the opportunity to have its replacement fleet accessible but chose not do.
