At Verdane, we invest only in companies that are positioned to succeed in a more sustainable economy (our '2040 test'). We are one of the very few firms in our industry with B-Corp status, the most ambitious sustainability accreditation globally (join us!), and we support the important work of The Nature Conservancy through Verdane Foundation. If we do not accelerate our collective efforts to create a more sustainable economy, our children and children's children will inherit a very different planet. On your way home today, I highly recommend spending 15 minutes to see the below TED talk on current state of affairs We are fundamental optimists, and believe the global community will take action to prevent doomsday scenarios. That creates a generational megatrend of market growth and investment opportunities in a myriad of sectors and sub-sectors as economies reconfigure, and the opportunity for investors to generate strong long term returns (current market wobbles aside). We are humbled and grateful for the trust placed in us by some of the most sophisticated investors out there with our Euro 700m Idun II, and will do our utmost to deliver both a strong financial outcome and a meaningful decarbonisation contribution of +5,000 tonnes carbon abatement per million euros invested! Summary of the Climate Solutions Forum - Day 2! In the Climate Adaptation block, which featured storytelling sessions, keynote speeches, and a fishbowl conversation, discussions centered on enhancing adaptive capacity, ecosystem-based solutions, community initiatives, and locally led adaptation. The block underscored the need for a paradigm shift in climate finance to ensure that adaptation receives adequate support, enabling communities and ecosystems to become more resilient in the face of climate change. 🌱💧 In the SDGs and Inequalities block, the focus was on exploring the intersections of climate change with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fostering community resilience. One of the key highlights was a panel discussion on Environmental Racism and Sustainable Development, featuring two keynote speeches and an interview. Additionally, the block included a speaker roundtable with participants from diverse backgrounds and with complementary perspectives. This roundtable aimed to facilitate a comprehensive discussion on addressing inequalities within the context of sustainable development and climate action when it comes to wealth redistributionand taxation.🤝 #F20RioCSF #SDGs #Resilience #ClimateAction #Philanthropy #Solidarity #NorthSouthPartnership #SustainableFinance #ClimateAdaptation #FoodSecurity #Inequalities #Health

"When the storms come, will we be ready?" 🌍 As we face a world increasingly disrupted by climate change, I've taken a step toward the solution by completing the Building Resilience Against Climate and Environmental Shocks (BRACE) program, organized by African Change Makers (AFC). This program didn’t just teach me theory, it equipped me with practical, climate-smart strategies that will empower farmers, businesses, and communities to thrive in the face of environmental adversity. Now more than ever, I’m committed to leveraging these skills through CHAVICX Integrated Farms to drive sustainable change, starting from the grassroots. But here’s where YOU come in: We can’t tackle these challenges alone. Whether you're in agriculture, tech, sustainability, or just passionate about making a difference, let’s connect! Let's build a network of changemakers who are ready to take on the future with bold, innovative solutions. The journey to resilience begins now. Are you ready to join me? #ClimateChange #Sustainability #Resilience #AgricTech #AfricanChangeMakers #BRACE #SustainableDevelopment #LetsConnect #CareerMomentumAssembly

🌍 Reflecting on AlterCOP – Insights from Human Capital and Youths 🙆♂️ Today, I attended multiple panels at AlterCOP, featuring thought-provoking discussions led by esteemed professors and sustainability experts. Here are my key takeaways: ❗ Building Climate Literacy for Collective Action Expert speakers like Natasha Lye and Cedric Ringenbach from Climate Fresk emphasized that tackling climate change requires a common understanding. The first step? Ensuring that people understand climate change. Meaningful, large-scale solutions can only be possible when awareness translates into informed action. 🔼 Anthropology and the Psychology of Change A standout moment was Prof. Emily Chua's sharing on the challenging psychological choices: the "end of the world" vs. the "end of capitalism." Her insights revealed the fears underlying the sustainability movement and shares similarities with entrepreneurship, and what we can understand from it. 🎢 Youth Innovations: Small-Scale, Big Impact Prof. Jude Kurniawan shared inspiring success stories of youth-led, niche innovations that challenge entrenched systems. These stories highlight the importance of localised, small-scale solutions that can push for meaningful change—something Singapore should embrace more actively. 📣 The panels left me inspired to act. I've since registered for Climate Fresk, looking forward to attending and learning more from the workshop. You can learn more about climate change from the Climate Fresk workshop, available across many countries: https://lnkd.in/gMWQuryt It was also a pleasure meeting Shi-Zhou Tan 陈仕洲 and Jae L. in person—always great to connect with like-minded individuals passionate about driving change! #AlterCOP #Sustainability #ClimateLiteracy #YouthInnovation #Singapore #ClimateChange
