I recently had the privilege of participating in #Uskill, a series of virtual webinars organized by Unilever Sri Lanka which is designed to enhance the skills necessary for success in the corporate world. all sessions covered several critical areas of professional development and here are my top three learnings. The art of Brand Storytelling by Mr.Mahima Alahapperuma and Mr.Chaminda Samarakone 1. Understanding and Engaging Your Customer Identify what triggers consumer buying behavior and be curious about the consumer context. Pulling the emotion of customers is more important than pushing them towards a product. This emotional connection helps in creating a lasting bond with the customer. To effectively position your brand in the customer's mind, it's essential to first understand their problems. Offering the right solution begins with approaching the customer in a creative way, making your brand stand out by being different from others. When your brand personality aligns with your brand purpose, the positioning is done correctly within the people you serve. This alignment ensures that your brand resonates deeply with your target audience. 2.Delivering Powerful Ideas through creative Storytelling A brand should do some good to the world as well. The idea is the most powerful thing, and it should take a stand and deliver a powerful message to society. This not only builds brand reputation but also fosters customer loyalty. When it comes to creative storytelling, customers should actively engage with the brand. Effective storytelling captivates the audience, making them part of the brand's journey and creating a community of loyal customers. Mastering Corporate Etiquette by Ms.Yuvini Balasooriya 3.The way you conduct yourself in the workplace speaks volumes Establishing a positive first impression is essential. It reflects your self-respect and respect for others, laying the foundation for a positive image. Demonstrating professionalism through our actions fosters a productive and respectful environment. Meetings are an essential part of professional life. Adhering to proper etiquette, such as punctuality, attentiveness, and active participation ensures productive and respectful interactions. Clear, concise, and professional communication can significantly enhance our interactions and collaborations. In order to improve the decisions that are made about employees, People Analytics makes use of data and statistical analysis. This allows for a more in-depth understanding of the behavior, performance, and requirements of the workforce. The goal of conflict management is to effectively recognize, manage, and resolve conflicts that arise in the workplace. Companies have the ability to not only recognize and avoid future problems by combining these two approaches, but they can also foster a more peaceful and productive working environment thanks to this combination.

I enjoy training a lot and participating in various sports. It's key to keeping both the mind and body refreshed week after week. How do you describe the company's culture and values? Here’s why … 📣 Industry Knowledge Many industries, especially in tech and creative, have numerous areas, each with its own key players. Newcomers might focus on well-known brands or those directly relevant to their initial roles or educational courses, missing out on others. 📣 Limited Exposure and Experience Early career roles are often narrower in scope, and newcomers might be exposed only to brands relevant to their specific courses, tasks or projects. They typically gain broader exposure only as they progress and work on more diverse projects. 📣 Learning Curve and Skill Building The first few years are focused on developing foundational skills and knowledge. Newcomers are often prioritising understanding the basics and their immediate responsibilities rather than researching all brands in the field. 📣 Brand Visibility and Market Presence Some brands are more prominent due to larger marketing budgets or reputation, while smaller or niche brands might have limited reach or visibility.
