Ava Lubkemann '27 (ECS) founded Revamped and has officially launched in the Hatchery. Revamped is an innovative mobile thrift store and donation hub operating from a creatively upcycled bus. By collecting items directly from students, it breaks down transportation barriers and offers affordable secondhand goods to the community. The bus itself serves as a symbol of sustainability and upcycling, showcasing the team’s commitment to reducing waste and increasing accessibility in ways traditional thrift stores can’t. Backed by expertise in sustainable infrastructure and media, Revamped is reshaping how communities think about reuse and giving back.

We have a big responsibility in tech. 🌍 Not only are global carbon emissions from this industry comparable to those in the airline industry, but the rapid advancement of AI technologies has led to a surge in energy consumption, posing a significant challenge for companies aiming to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030. 🌱 New Year, New Non-Profit! 🌱 We’re thrilled to announce a significant milestone for Earthself: the creation of a dedicated non-profit organisation to advance the food forest movement in Scotland through Emiel’s Food Forest. Here’s what Earthself Initiatives will focus on: 1️⃣ Living Laboratory: Leveraging Emiel’s Food Forest as a living laboratory to demonstrate the viability of food forests as a nature-based solution. This initiative fosters connections between people, land, and heritage, benefiting both ecosystems and the communities around Loch Rannoch. 2️⃣ A Nature Positive Scotland: Inspiring a student-led movement to create food forests across universities and local communities, with the Rannoch area serving as a demonstrator model. 3️⃣ Community & Business Engagement: Engaging local communities and businesses in the Rannoch area (and beyond!) through hands-on learning and community-driven environmental stewardship, showcasing the regenerative power of food forests. ✨ This represents a major milestone in Earthself’s journey, as the seed for this non-profit first emerged through Earth almost 10 years ago. Veolia UK has donated Fruit Tress to 300+ schools across the UK 🤗 Not only does this initiative naturally have myriad positive impacts for the immediate & extended environment (i.e. improving air quality); it also encourages children to become more aware of their own connection to nature, fostering increased reverence for all things "green". Children are the future. Positively articulating in their impressionable minds the importance of improved biodiversity (and the principles of self-sufficiency and provision - i.e. harvesting fruit) etc... is key to raising a generation of conscious, caring individuals - who regard our planet as one worth respecting. At Circular Computing, we believe in making an impact beyond remanufacturing technology and after reading Thirst by Scott Harrison , I was inspired by charity: water's mission to provide clean, safe water to those in need because providing clean water fixes so much more than thirst. We are proud to say that from now on, for every laptop we sell, a family will receive clean water for a week and that means that through Scott and his teams relentless and challenging work, we can really be proud that we are playing our small part to help.  Right now, 703 million people lack access to clean water, leading to disease and unthinkable loss of life, as well as loss of education and opportunity, and that is just for starters.     charity: water’s 100% transparency and innovative tech ensures every penny goes directly to life-changing projects that result in making water available to communities who truly need it, which in turn irradicates so many health problems along the way, it is shocking. So this rainbow doesn’t have an actual pot of gold under it, but it is just as special! 🌈 🥇 It’s the legendary Rob Brown, Stuart Borg and Keith Fernandez (behind camera!) from Recycle4Change and the sorting machinery required to process millions of bottles and cans for the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme at their new Point Cook facillty! For anyone who knows Fruit2WorkAus, you know the incredible impact they deliver to the Victorian community. Fruit2WorkAus employees who have come into contact with the justice system have a recidivism rate of 0% compared with nearly 50% in the general population in the first two years. It’s been wonderful to watch this dedicated group of people deliver Recycle4Change, adding huge environmental benefits to their already exceptional social impact.
