Job Title: Construction Manager (CM I, II, III) – Electric & Utility Projects
Location: Michigan
Salary Range: $60,258 - $89,278
Position Summary:
We are seeking motivated and qualified individuals to join our team as Construction Managers (CM I, II, or III) to oversee capital project construction within our Electric and Utility systems. The ideal candidates will apply construction principles, design specifications, scopes of work, and contractual agreements to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective project completion. You will provide project support, guiding constructability, safety, regulatory compliance, building standards, and adherence to policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive safety orientations for contractors and subcontractors at job sites
Perform regular job site assessments to ensure regulatory compliance and contract adherence
Ensure safety protocols are followed, including lockout/tagout and hot work permits
Collaborate with project managers and engineers using blueprints, site layouts, and project documentation
Write clear project reports and assist with administrative functions
Proactively seek guidance when needed and contribute to departmental meetings
Support multiple projects across various operational areas and utilities
Follow BWL Safety Manual and use personal protective equipment
Participate in the continuous improvement of asset management and work management processes
Qualifications:
CM I (Entry Level)
Associate’s degree in construction management, architecture, utility systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Willingness to pursue certification with Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI) or similar
Basic understanding of construction concepts and safety protocols
Ability to perform onsite inspections and communicate effectively with teams
Experience with Microsoft Office and construction management tools
Valid MI driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
CM II (Mid-Level)
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Minimum three years of related experience in construction or utility projects, including managing construction contracts
Certification in safety (e.g., MIOSHA 10) and construction management (e.g., CHST, CMIT)
Proficiency in reading blueprints and project documents
Valid MI driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
CM III (Senior Level)
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Minimum five years of experience in construction management, including at least three years of managing construction contracts
Experience with utility construction projects preferred
Strong analytical skills to resolve complex issues and knowledge of construction contract types
Professional memberships/certifications (e.g., MIOSHA 30) preferred
Valid MI driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
