State Treasurer Rachael Eubanks today announced that individuals and businesses affected by the severe winter weather in northern Michigan can obtain state tax relief. Individual and business taxpayers who reside in Alcona, Alpena, Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Crawford, Emmet, Mackinac, Montmorency, Oscoda, Otsego and Presque Isle counties can request additional time to file state tax returns and pay state tax bills, with penalties and interest waived. The Michigan Department of Corrections celebrated a new class of graduates from the Lower Peninsula Officer Recruit Training Academy today in Lansing. The full statewide Winter class is comprised of 264 new officers. The Lower Peninsula Recruit Academy graduation took place on March 28 at the Lansing Center and recognized 224 new officers. These new officers will help to reduce vacancies at facilities across the state and help to continue keeping communities safe. https://lnkd.in/gA5vU56U

Following the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing of genetic testing company 23andMe on Sunday, March 23, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is urging account holders to consider proactive steps to protect their sensitive personal data. “23andMe collects and stores some of the most sensitive personal information, our genetic code,” Nessel said. “With the company now in bankruptcy, customers should be aware of the potential risks and consider deleting their accounts to protect their data.” Read more at https://lnkd.in/eSvY3FDZ.
