Following historic lows in crime in 2023, the Violent Crime Reduction Initiative – a collaboration between Wayne County, City of Detroit, Detroit Police Department, Third Judicial Circuit Court, 36th District Court, Michigan Department of Corrections, and community groups – achieved even greater success in 2024. The year marked another significant reduction in crime, building on last year’s record as Detroit’s safest in 57 years. We are proud to continue working alongside these agencies and our dedicated community partners to create safer neighborhoods for everyone.
