  • Jenny Kratochvil is always their for patients and her co-workers. Jenny, the director of Valley Respiratory Services, oversees the respiratory program at Westfields, Hudson Hospital & Clinic, Amery Hospital & Clinic, and Lakeview Hospital. She makes sure every shift is covered—even if it means stepping in herself. “I don’t expect my team to do anything I wouldn’t do myself,” she says. Beyond her administrative and clinical roles, Jenny leads the Better Breathers support group, offering comfort and connection to patients and their families. She treasures moments of support, from playing cribbage with patients to hearing a family member say, “Your Jenny is here.” Known for her resourcefulness, Jenny is a partner for good, embracing each unpredictable day with enthusiasm. • We're honored to be recognized once again! We’re proud to share that the Chartis Center for Rural Health recently named us among the Top 100 critical access hospitals in the nation. Westfields has won this award for 10 consecutive years! We’re very proud to be among the best year after year, especially considering there are over 1,350 critical access hospitals nationwide. “This recognition validates the hard work and compassion I see every day as we work to improve the health and well-being of our patients and community,” says Steve Massey, president of Westfields Hospital & Clinic. “It’s a great honor, and it reflects the dedication of everyone who works at Westfields.” Congratulations to our colleagues at Westfields on another Top 100 recognition!

  • Mona James has a passion for helping people, both near and far. Mona, a nurse at Westfields, cares for patients in our community and has also made a significant impact treating patients worldwide. Over the past 12 years, Mona has volunteered for 30 medical missions, traveling across Africa, South America, Asia, and Oceania. This year, she served in Kenya, Chile, and Honduras, with plans for Ecuador, Nepal, and South Africa in 2025. On these missions, she provides medications, eyeglasses, basic care, lab tests, and education, even assisting with no-cost surgeries at Medical Missions Outreach’s (MMO) Honduras surgical center. Beyond physical care, Mona emphasizes compassion and reassurance. “Listening and offering peace of mind mean so much to patients,” she says. Mona is a partner for good, with an unwavering commitment to helping others. “Wherever I am, I try to listen, help, and show I care."

  • As our community sees a surge in respiratory illnesses, our hospitals are busy and our teams are working extremely hard to care for our patients. To help ensure all community members have timely access to care, here are a few reminders of when to seek urgent vs. emergency services and how to stay healthy this time of year. Thank you for helping us out! When to visit urgent care: •Minor injuries and burns •Cold and flu symptoms •Cuts, scrapes and stitches •Sprains and strains •Sore throat and strep throat When to visit the emergency room: •Major injuries and burns •Chest pain or shortness of breath •Stomach pain (severe) •Bleeding you can’t stop •Allergic reaction (severe) •Pregnant women in labor •Poisoning How to stay healthy: •Stay home if you or your family are sick •Wash hands often •Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or shirt sleeve, not your hands •Clean frequently touched surfaces, such as doorknobs and mobile devices •Avoid close contact with sick people •Mask when appropriate •Stay up to date on vaccinations

  • We’re so grateful to our colleagues for bringing holiday cheer to the community! Our team brought nostalgia to life at New Richmond’s Hometown Holiday Parade! The Westfields float showcased a life-sized jack-in-the-box and a Barrel of Monkeys, perfectly fitting this year’s nostalgic toy theme. Our colleagues joined the fun, dressing up as Raggedy Ann, a stuffed hippo, and even the Operation Game. Happy holidays to you and your loved ones!
