This National Autism Awareness Month, Team Foster is proud to highlight how service dogs can make a life-changing impact for children with autism. These specially trained dogs provide more than companionship. They offer safety, routine, and emotional regulation that can help children navigate the world with confidence. From preventing elopement and calming sensory overload to supporting social interaction and communication, service dogs become a trusted source of comfort and independence. Every partnership is a step toward a more inclusive, empowered future. #TeamFoster #AutismAwarenessMonth #ServiceDogs #ShowUp4Vets

Team Foster raises money to provide accredited, life-saving service dogs for injured and disabled Veterans.
About us
Team Foster raises money to provide accredited, life-saving service dogs for injured and disabled Veterans. Team Foster: *Funds* highly trained and accredited service dogs for injured and disabled Veterans at no cost to the Veteran and provides lifetime support to its Veteran–service dog teams. Team Foster brings civilians, Veterans and service dogs together to provide the resources that our government does not. *Advocates* for Veterans and their service dogs in the community, workplace, and the legislature. Team Foster works to achieve the best possible training for service dogs and fair treatment of Veterans. *Educates* and raises awareness across the nation about the challenges our Veterans face, the power of service dogs, and the life-saving resource that these properly trained and accredited animals can provide. Founded in 2014, Team Foster has become a community leader working on behalf of injured and disabled veterans. Recognizing that service dogs serve a vital role in the rehabilitation of injured soldiers, especially those with PTSD or Traumatic Brain Injury, Team Foster works to ensure there is No Hero Left Behind. Our funds go to ensure service dogs can be obtained, trained and provided to a Veteran in need at no cost. The teamwork doesn't end there. One service dog can cost upwards of $30,000 and take up to two years to properly train. There is no viable resource through the VA, no federal government or insurance coverage that will cover the cost of a service dog for a Veteran suffering from PTSD. Team Foster fills that need. Join us as we bring our civilian and veteran communities together to ensure there is No Hero Left Behind. Events like Ruff Ride: 24-hour Spin Relay and the Foster 100 provide amazing opportunities for sponsors and attendees alike.

Do you know the difference between an ESA and a Service dogs? While both offer support, emotional support animals (ESAs) and service dogs are not the same—and the difference matters. Service dogs are specifically trained to perform tasks that assist someone with a disability and are protected under the ADA. ESAs provide comfort through companionship but do not have public access rights or task-specific training. Misunderstanding or misrepresenting these roles can create confusion and barriers for those who truly rely on service dogs. Swipe through to learn more. #TeamFoster #ServiceDogs #ESA #ShowUp4Vets

Team Foster reposted this
There’s a lot of questions and confusion for businesses & the public when it comes to service dogs. Yes, service dogs are granted wide latitude to accompany their handlers. But NO, it is not a free pass. When everyone is working from the same set of rules, we can increase mutual understanding, and lower everyone’s anxiety a notch. These protections only apply to *service dogs*, not emotional support animals, facility dogs or pets. Meanwhile, Pennsylvania needs to DO BETTER. Pennsylvania is one of only 14 states where it is not illegal to misrepresent a pet as a service dog. These pets masquerading as service dogs are abusing the process and business owners; the blow-back is very real: Veterans with invisible wounds are paying the price from mistreated business owners. Team Foster looks forward to working with Pennsylvania legislators like Rep. Dan Miller and Rep. Timothy O'Neal to make change for Pennsylvania and creating a fairer, more accessible community for Veterans and anyone using an actual service dog. #LeadServeGive #weareteamfoster #showup4vets #noheroleftbehind
Under ADA guidelines, there are only two questions staff can ask about a service dog: 1. Is this a service animal required for a disability? 2. What task has the dog been trained to perform? It's important to remember that you cannot ask about the handler's disability, request medical documentation, demand special identification for the dog, or ask for a task demonstration. By following these guidelines, we can ensure public spaces remain accessible and welcoming for those who rely on service dogs. #TeamFoster #ServiceDogs #ShowUp4Vets
