Congratulations to Research Park startup Boston Bioprocess for winning the 2025 Edwin Moore Family Agriculture Innovation Prize. The award, funded by a family of University of Illinois alumni and presented annually at the AgTech Summit, rewards University of Illinois entrepreneurs focusing on agricultural innovations. Boston Bioprocess helps fermentation-based manufacturers navigate the challenging transition from laboratory to commercial production. The biotechnology services company specializes in developing, scaling up, and optimizing fermentation and downstream processing operations. On Thursday, March 6, Wolf Creek Farm was named the recipient of the 2025 Glen “GB” Brandt Prize for Ag Entrepreneurism at the AgTech Summit. Located in Williamsville, Wolf Creek Farm provides wholesale produce purchase options for farm-to-table retailers, truck farmers, farmers market retailers, distributors, and more. The Brandt Prize for Ag Entrepreneurism was established in 2021 in honor of Glen “GB” Brandt, a legendary figure in the field of Illinois agriculture. Since then, the BRANDT® Foundation gives a $10,000 prize to a grower/producer/farmer who exemplifies an entrepreneurial spirit at the annual AgTech Summit. Research Park-affiliated startup Cache Energy was featured in a recent The Daily Illini article profiling the company's renewable energy storage solution. Cache is creating a large-scale, affordable and safe method of storing energy. Its technology, based on thermal power plants, enables industries to transition from fossil fuel to renewable energy. “It is paramount to have good, reliable storage technology in place to be able to leverage the renewable energy that’s being generated on a daily basis,” said Amulya Nimmagadda, Cache’s director of research and development, in her interview for the article.
