Core partners of the Data for Now initiative convened a closed peer-learning session to bring together participating countries, donors, and implementing partners for a candid exchange of experiences and lessons learned. 🔁 Countries shared how they improved data timeliness, granularity, and usability — inspiring new countries joining through the DATA for SIDS (DATAS) initiative. 🤝The session featured a Café Tables peer-learning format, where participants exchanged innovative approaches around key themes: • Geospatial data and SDG 11 indicators • Mobile positioning data for internal migration • IT architecture and small area estimation • Modernizing statistical legislation • Increased use of administrative data and data sharing • Data visualization and open data • Citizen-Generated Data • Collaboration with academia This peer-to-peer exchange underscored that sharing knowledge is as important as generating data — and that national and global partnerships are key to unlocking progress. 🚧 Morocco’s Cities Are Growing Fast — But So Is Innovation. Faced with rapid urban expansion and pressure on land, 🇲🇦 Morocco is responding with data-driven collaboration.   Under the Data for Now initiative, the High Commission for Planning, Ministry of Interior, and MATNUHPV joined forces with UNSD and UN-Habitat to link geospatial and statistical data and measure 3 critical SDG 11 indicators.   ✅ Accurate, timely data ✅ Local ownership and sustainability ✅ A roadmap to more liveable, inclusive cities   📊 Results were published globally in December 2024. On the sidelines of #UN56SC, the #Data4Now initiative showcased how national statistical systems are advancing the production of timely, granular, and user-focused data through innovation and cross-sector collaboration. Co-organized by UNSD, UNDP, The World Bank Group, Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data, and Sustainable Development Solutions Network, the event brought together policymakers, statisticians, and development partners to share concrete country experiences — from agriculture in Viet Nam, to public safety in Sierra Leone, to territorial housing planning in Morocco. 💡 Key themes included: 🔹 Aligning data production with national policy priorities 🔹 Leveraging administrative, geospatial, and alternative data sources 🔹 Strengthening coordination across national statistical systems 🔹 Building enabling environments through reforms and capacity development This session reaffirmed the power of collaborative data innovation in addressing today’s most pressing development challenges. The pre-edited version (white cover) of the #2025SNA is now available electronically in English! 🌍 Translations in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish will be completed in due course. Stay tuned!   Following its adoption by the 56th Session of the #UNSC56, as the international statistical standard for national accounts statistics, the #2025SNA is now available at: https://lnkd.in/eVysMUpa. The 2025 SNA introduces treatments for new aspects of the economy that have gained prominence, elaborates on elements that have drawn analytical attention and clarifies guidance on a wide range of issues, based on advances in methodological research and user needs. These include topics such as #globalization, #digitalization, emerging financial issues, #Islamic_finance and the #informal_economy. Notably, the #2025SNA broadens the national accounts framework to better account for elements affecting wellbeing and sustainability to inform various policy goals. To ensure full consistency, the 7th edition of IMF Integrated Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (#BPM7) was developed in parallel with the #2025SNA, sharing the same text in chapters relevant to both standards. #BPM7 is available at: https://lnkd.in/edNhRUb7. Countries are encouraged to implement both standards. The #ISWGNA organizations will support implementation of the 2025 SNA by providing additional guidance and technical assistance in accordance with the implementation strategy endorsed by the #UNSC56 (https://lnkd.in/eVysMUpa).
