It’s not too late to leave no one behind. Yes, we have only five years left to achieve the SDGs. Yes, the setbacks are real, and the challenges are immense. But the Pact for the Future proved it is not too late. It called for delivering on the SDGs and strengthening the architecture of peace, reaffirmed the urgency of climate action, set guardrails for AI, and called for a major boost in development financing. This year, two key moments will put financing at the center of development: the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development in Spain and the Second World Summit for Social Development in Qatar. These gatherings will ensure resources serve people and progress for decades to come. Now is the time to act. Let’s advance the SDGs and deliver on our commitment to leave no one behind.

Artificial glaciers. Drinking and wastewater infrastructure. Rehabilitation of reservoirs and watersheds. At the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women #CSW69, Heew Kim, Reporting & Evaluation Specialist of the Joint SDG Fund Secretariat, joined a high-level discussion on how inter-agency pooled funds are driving financial accountability and partnerships to close the gender financing gap. Co-hosted by the Governments of 🇧🇴 Bolivia and 🇪🇸 Spain, this side event highlighted the critical role of pooled funding mechanisms and the Gender Equality Marker in ensuring sustained, predictable, and well-coordinated support for gender equality. With global financing for gender equality declining since 2020, the urgency to mobilize resources, enhance transparency, and reinforce accountability has never been clearer. As we approach Beijing+30 and the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (#FfD4), now is the time for bold, strategic investments in women’s rights and empowerment. A huge thanks to UN Women, the UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office, the UN Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA), and all partners for this critical conversation on financing gender equality. The choices we make today will define whether gender equality remains a promise or a fully funded, transformative reality.

Member States, UN organizations, NGOs, and civil society come together to drive gender equality forward. Our journey begins every day. We must continue to dismantle inequalities, reverse systemic discrimination, and protect the rights of all women and girls, in all their diversity. The UN was founded 80 years ago on the core principle of non-discrimination—a principle that remains essential today. When women and girls succeed, peace is strengthened, climate action gains momentum, and sustainable economic growth is enhanced. My hope and trust in this mission remain steadfast. Peace, dignity, and equality are not just ideals—they represent our shared responsibility.
