Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations & Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group

At the United Nations, our mission is to create a better future for all. As Deputy Secretary-General, I look forward to sharing updates, insights, and reflections on our collective work here on LinkedIn. The past two weeks, the United Nations hosted the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (#CSW69). Member States, UN organizations, NGOs, and civil society come together to drive gender equality forward. Our journey begins every day. We must continue to dismantle inequalities, reverse systemic discrimination, and protect the rights of all women and girls, in all their diversity. The UN was founded 80 years ago on the core principle of non-discrimination—a principle that remains essential today. When women and girls succeed, peace is strengthened, climate action gains momentum, and sustainable economic growth is enhanced. My hope and trust in this mission remain steadfast. Peace, dignity, and equality are not just ideals—they represent our shared responsibility.

Women & children bear the brunt of violence in the Middle East by sacred cows. Institutions like United Nations must do better. We demand action, justice & protection for the most vulnerable.

Is there nothing apart women in Mellisa’s mind that she doesn’t miss to talk about. But only about women, at that position she has to acknowledge that she shouldn’t be in discriminatory terms. She needs to be able to speak as a unitor
