Did you know that features like elevated mechanicals, impact-resistant roofing, and tempered-glass windows can not only help protect commercial real estate from hazards, but improve access to insurance? As climate risks rise, developers are using these smart strategies to protect properties, keep repair costs down, and secure coverage across property types. Join us at the Resilience Summit on Thursday, May 15, in Denver to hear from experts on how resilient construction, insurability, and physical climate risk are shaping the future of real estate—among many other conversations on resilience finance, wildfire response, and more. When disaster strikes, how do we rebuild stronger? In January 2025, wildfires devastated Los Angeles and surrounding areas, destroying homes, offices, schools, and infrastructure. In response, ULI convened 100+ experts from real estate and academia, including ULI Los Angeles, UCLA Ziman Center for Real Estate, and the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate, to create Project Recovery—an actionable roadmap for rebuilding and long-term resilience. At the Housing Opportunity Conference in February, 150 attendees participated in a focus group hosted by ULI's Homeless to Housed (H2H) initiative, discussing the private sector's role in addressing homelessness. This session explored ways real estate leaders and nonprofit housing providers can collaborate to create more affordable housing solutions. As ULI members have often noted, “While the industry cannot solve homelessness alone, it is a critical part of the solution.” We’re now working to shape ULI’s 10 Principles for Addressing Homelessness: A Guide for Real Estate & Finance and would appreciate your input. Until May 1st, you can take the 10 Principles for Addressing Homelessness survey to help shape the future of deeply affordable housing. Your feedback will guide real estate leaders in catalyzing the production and preservation of housing for those most in need. 🔗 Take the survey now: https://bit.ly/4hTIpoc #ULIHousing #housingsolutions #HomelesstoHoused

Some communities are tackling this head-on by purchasing deed restrictions, building new affordable units, and leveraging zoning flexibility.
