We are proud to announce that in 2024 we distributed $68 million* in grants, a new high for Foundation grantmaking. Last year's total is a 9% increase over the previous high of $62 million in 2020. More than half of all grants came from donor funds. What were the sources of our grantmaking in 2024? 54% - Donor Fund Grants 30% - Foundation-Directed Grants 8% - Program Initiative Grants 8% - Scholarships “We had a great grantmaking year from donor-advised funds, which is a demonstration of the trust that donors have with us and our knowledge of the community,” said Lindsay Aroesty, Vice President, Development and Donor Services. “I am proud that these numbers indicate that they are growing the size of their funds while simultaneously targeting community needs. It shows in vivid detail how donors are distributing those funds back into the community.” Donor fund grants totaled $42 million and supported a range of areas. Top categories for donor fund grants included: 26% - Human Services 22% - Education 13% - Public, Societal Benefit 11% - Arts, Culture & Humanities Thanks to our donors for the support you have shown year after year to improve the quality of life for everyone in our region. We're looking forward to continuing this momentum the rest of 2025. * Totals represented are preliminary. Final numbers are reported in June.

As IRA holders chart their financial planning, it's imperative to understand how to effectively allocate Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs). Whether you're a charitably minded individual or a financial planner guiding your clients, feeling comfortable with RMDs is essential. We talked with CooksonPeirce Regional Managing Director Janelle Woods, CFP®, MBA about the impact you can have with charitable giving through your RMD. https://lnkd.in/etMmiHuy

The RACE + DISABILITY initiative continues to be an example of how we can partner with terrific organizations to help guide our nonprofit community in these important areas. Thank you, Keri Gray, FISA Foundation and The Heinz Endowments for your continued collaboration and leadership.
The Beyond Diversity program for nonprofit leaders in southwestern PA, co-sponsored by FISA Foundation, The Pittsburgh Foundation, and The Heinz Endowments as part of the Race and Disability initiative, held the final leadership cohort session this morning. As always, program facilitator and disability advocate Keri Gray, did a fantastic job guiding a thoughtful and thought provoking discussion and it was wonderful to hear from three of the cohort participants who shared details of the projects they have been working on for the past seven months. I feel very lucky to be able to participate in and support this work of racial justice and disability justice.
