We’re thrilled to share that Studio Gang has been honored with the 2025 AIA California Firm Award! Since opening our San Francisco Studio in 2017, we’ve been committed to working in the communities and places we consider home. Each of our projects in the State—which include a recently completed expansion for the California College of the Arts campus, a revitalization and addition to Kresge College at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and the Verde and MIRA residential towers—embody our studio’s mission of harnessing the power of design to create measurable, positive change for people and the environment. A huge thank you to the jury for this recognition and to our partners who helped make these projects possible! We’re excited to continue shaping California’s architectural landscape with meaningful, community-driven design. 📸: Jason O’Rear

  • Populus is featured in TIME's list of “The World’s Greatest Places of 2025!” 🌿 As writer AnneLise Sorensen notes, “A soaring new aspen has sprouted in downtown Denver. The striking hotel Populus, opened in October, embodies Colorado’s iconic tree inside and out, from the biophilic design by Studio Gang to the warm and woodsy hues of the lobby that brighten as you ascend, mirroring light-splintered foliage, and culminating in the rooftop bar Stellar Jay, which flourishes with regional flora.” Read more about how Populus aims to reconnect city dwellers with nature in the heart of Denver: https://lnkd.in/gKi7geNT We hope you visit the next time you’re in town! 📸: Jason O'Rear and Steve Hall Wildman Chalmers Design, LLC, Superbloom , Urban Villages, Fowler + Fowler Architecture, D.P.C., Studio NYL, WSP, CMTA, Inc., Kimley-Horn, LS Group, Lerch Bates Inc., Arup, Pique Technologies LLC, Next Step Design, The Beck Group

  • Thank you to all our friends, clients, colleagues, and collaborators who joined us to celebrate our new home in New York! Located in the landmarked Equitable Building, our new office supports our growing team and expanding portfolio across the city. Over the past decade, our New York Studio has grown to more than 40 team members working on projects throughout the city and beyond, including two community centers in Brooklyn with the NYC Department of Design and Construction and the new home of Hudson Valley Shakespeare in Garrison, NY. As we enter our second decade in New York, we’re grateful to all who have collaborated with and supported our work over the past ten years—and we’re excited for what’s ahead!

  • Join us in Cambridge tomorrow at 12pm at Harvard University Graduate School of Design’s Frances Loeb Library, where Jeanne Gang will speak about her recent book on bringing new life to existing buildings, “The Art of Architectural Grafting.” Drawing on her practice at Studio Gang as well as her research and teaching at the GSD, Jeanne will explore how architects can apply the principles of horticultural grafting to make strategic additions to older structures, producing new usefulness and beauty for communities. Following the presentation, Jeanne will be joined in conversation by Antoine Picon, G. Ware Travelstead Professor of the History of Architecture and Technology at Harvard GSD and Chair of the PhD program in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Urban Planning. A book signing will conclude the event, which is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there! Learn more: https://lnkd.in/emPCmQrA

We’re excited to share a first look at the Women’s Leadership Center at Williams Bay, a new leadership retreat overlooking Geneva Lake in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. Located 90 miles from Chicago, the Center will establish an inspiring environment where professional women’s groups come together to share ideas, problem-solve, and foster personal growth. The Center’s three buildings will host different scales of gathering, from intimate meetings to larger retreats. Situated within a lush, densely canopied forest, the architecture’s form and geometry merge with the organic elements of the 8.5-acre site. Gently curved spaces are carefully punctuated with large windows and skylights offering views to the lake and forest—creating inviting areas for convening, dining, and quiet work. In keeping with the Center’s light touch on the earth, the design maintains as much of the site’s natural topography as possible. Other sustainable strategies—including cross-ventilation, locally sourced materials, mass timber, and low-carbon concrete—further minimize the Center’s operational and embodied carbon. • The revitalized Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (AMFA) brings together people, art, and nature, establishing a vibrant destination for culture and community in Little Rock. Our design works from the inside out, introducing a new central addition to unify the Museum’s eight existing structures and provide a bold new architectural identity for extensive renovations that accommodate AMFA’s growing visitor needs. Running through the entire building like a graceful stem, the atrium connects and guides visitors to the museum’s diverse programs—including its galleries, theater, and art school. At each end, the stem blossoms outward, forming distinctive entrances and social spaces that connect the Museum to the surrounding landscape and the city beyond. Approaching from downtown, the renewed Art Deco façade of the Museum’s original 1937 building is revealed as a welcoming, accessible grand entry. To the south, an outdoor dining pavilion replaces the existing asphalt parking lot, opening the building to MacArthur Park for the first time. 📸: Steve Hall and Iwan Baan
