Though we attend this conference every year, this year we feel an urgency to connect face-to-face with our fellow sustainable building advocates and discuss the progress still being made at the local level in the City of Boston, the State of Massachusetts, and other municipalities. It's the final countdown to #LEEDv5!🌿 If you work for an organization that's a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, it's time to cast your vote. After offering feedback during both LEED v5 public comment periods, we anticipate voting "yes" on the adoption of the final language for all three updated rating systems. LEED v5 will help guide our industry to take big steps forward in areas like decarbonization, resilience, health, and equity. We're ready to help navigate these changes!

SWA's Nicole Ceci, PE is joining a panel discussion at The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE)'s Hot Water Forum🌡️💧 on the economic and technical challenges of electrifying hot water with heat pumps... ...and why solving these challenges for affordable multifamily housing is important to help unburden low-income communities. Nicole will discuss a pilot program in New York City that's addressing both the technical and cost hurdles of commercial heat pump water heaters (HPWHs) with displacement strategies. Your feedback will support refining the criteria, validation measures, tools, and available resources to ensure the Standard continues to evolve. The public comment period is open through April 11, 2025. A day in the life of SWA sustainability consultants in Washington, DC 🌞 SWA was recently on-site at the Vermeer apartment community in the Capitol Riverfront to conduct blower door testing. All have passed! ✅ That means every unit is air-tight and will have reduced energy needs, increasing resident comfort while lowering heating and cooling costs. Excellent work from CBG Building Company and our high-performance building consultants. 🙌 The building superintendent, Karl Wright, shared with one of our consultants that he chose SWA to take the lead on the required testing because he feels comfortable working with us and trusts us.
